Fast & Furious vs Addictive TV - Vin Deisel remixed

Remixing fast and furiously for Universal, Addictive TV were asked to remix the new Vin Diesel blockbuster "Fast & Furious". Burning rubber, skids and squealing tyres galore - this movie was made for remixing...!

Slamming the pedal-to-the-metal, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker re-team for the ultimate chapter of the movies built on speed. Heading back to LA where it all began, they rejoin Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster to burn rubber, illegally race each other in exotic cars through the mean streets of Los Angeles, and floor them across the Mexican desert in this high-octane action-thriller.

The Chronicles of Riddick will be down and dirty.

IESB has heard that the new Riddick film will be more down and dirty with less "fantasy epic stuff" to deal with. A bounty hunter/space pirate type of story line is expected.

The film will have a capped budget of around $35 million.

Expect an official announcement about the new film after FAST & FURIOUS opens big on April 3.

Not sure how they will tie it into the end of The Chronicles of Riddick where he is sat as the ruler of the Necrowotsits.

I do like the fact they will be taking the character back to basics.

Fast & Furious

Universal Pictures teamed with legendary graffiti artist Mister Cartoon to create an original, one-of-a-kind billboard for the upcoming action-thriller Fast & Furious. Assisted by artists Revok and Toomer. Check out the incredible video featurette that captures the step-by-step process it took for Mister Cartoon, Revok, and Toomer to create the stunning Fast & Furious billboard.

Born and raised in L.A., Mister Cartoon began his career as a graffiti artist in the 1980s. Cartoon went on to gain notoriety for his unique tattoos, album cover designs, logos, advertisements and custom lowrider car murals. His richly detailed, hand-rendered designs are inspired by the style of tattoos that originated in the hard streets of 1970s L.A. Cartoon’s art embodies the true soul of L.A. street culture and has taken the fine line, black and grey tattoo culture to the masses. Cartoon’s unique position within the art world helps bridge the gap between corporate America and L.A. street culture.

Riddick is going Rambo on us

Vin Diesel recently mentioned that we would be seeing a new Chronicles of Riddick film. Now he has told Sci-Fi a little about the plot for the new film:
"We're going to find Riddick alone for the first part of the movie, barely alive, surrounded by carnivorous monsters who are trying to eat him, so you'll see a futuristic Rambo-esque Riddick trying to survive."
That sounds pretty good and more like the Riddick we saw in Pitch Black as opposed to the first Chronicles of Riddick film (although Pitch Black could be the first Chronicle, so that makes this new one the third...I'm confused). Not sure how it will tie in with the ending of the second Riddick film.
Does that plot make you excited about the new Riddick film?

Vin Diesel says The Chronicles of Riddick will return

Ah Riddick. Great character and Pitch Black is probably Vin Diesel's finest bit of screen time. Then they made The Chronicles of Riddick. At the time it was touted to be akin to The Lord of The Rings with Pitch Black being their Hobbit. Chronicles wasn't any such thing. A flawed epic which had some great bits along with some naff bits. Personally I really enjoyed it, especially the directors cut, but it did take itself so seriously and robbed Riddick's character of much of his coolness. It only made $58 Million at the box office so it looked as if we would never see Riddick on the big screen again.

Then along game the video game Escape from Butcher Bay. A great FPS for the X-Box that breathed new life into the franchise. This game has been revamped for the X-Box 360 and is due out soon under the name The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.

That's not all. Last August Vin Diesel said that there would be two more Riddick films. Now, in an interview about the Dark Athena game with GameSpot, Diesel has said a bit more about the new film.

"It is underway and I almost think it's a coincidence that we haven't heard anything, that there hasn't been a lot of public stuff on the Riddick movie"

He goes on to confirm that David Twohy is finishing up the script and once it's ready, they'll take the next steps.

Are you excited for a new Chronicles of Riddick film? What did you think of the previous films and what would you like to see in the new one? Should it carry on from the first Chronicles or tell a totally new story?

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

Vin Diesel has done some truly dreadful things. I'm not talking about killing puppies, or stabbing old people in the eye with a zimmer frame. No, I'm talking much, much worse - he's made some very naff films. The Pacifier, Babylon A.D., xXx, and the Fast and the Furious.

However, he has done some good stuff. Namely the character of Riddick in Pitch Black which is a blinder of a movie. Riddick is a very cool anti-hero (I even have a soft spot for The Chronicles of Riddick film - just always felt they had so much to tell that it all got splodged into one big glorious sci-fi mess) and he appears again in the new Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena video game. The trailer is below and it looks amazing. Think I will be picking this up when it comes out. What about you?

Interestingly it looks as if good old Vin may be doing something else good, namely lend his voice to the CGI feature length version of Rockfish. It is written and directed by Tim Miller of Blur Studios and is due out in 2010. Spooky as Neal Asher mentioned the short film of Rockfish in the interview I did with him this week. You can see the short there.

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, players will not only be challenged to survive Butcher Bay, but will also engage in a new single-player experience and, for the first time in the Riddick universe, take action in intense multi-player combat. The game introduces the ominous Merc-ship Dark Athena, which sits silent like a marauding spider, awaiting helpless prey in the dark reaches of the galaxy. Players must face a large, bloodthirsty operation led by the dreaded Captain Revas and her slaves-turned-controllable combat drones, storm though death-defying events and fight fierce enemies in a battle of malice and gore.

Babylon A.D. - Vin Diesel's new one

Yep, Vin is back in Sci-Fi mode and above is the international poster for his new movie, Babylon A.D. The poster tells you absolutely nothing about the movie apart from the fact Vin and the French looking woman look like giants compared to the bit of cityscape behind them!
A veteran-turned-mercenary (Vin Diesel) agrees to escort a woman from Russia to
Germany, not realizing that she's the host for an organism that a cult wants to
harvest into a genetically-modified Messiah. Based on the novel by Maurice G.
Dantec.
So no giants mentioned there. Damn misleading film posters and their false promises of giants. When was the last time we had a giant in a movie (apart from most Terry Gilliam movies - even when they don't have a giant they always feel as if there is one just off camera). The plot sounds a bit like Children of Men with a bit of The Fifth Element thrown in.

Apart from Vin, the film stars Gerard Depardieu, Michelle Yeoh, Charlotte Rampling, Mark Strong, Radek Bruna, Melanie Thierry and Lambert Wilson. Some good actors and action stars in there so it may be worth watching.

Directed by Mathieu Kassovitz (who starred in Munich) for 20th Century Fox from a script by Eric Besnard.

RZA Martial Arts movie and Vin Diesel Sci Fi

A couple of weeks ago, Billboard (via /Film) reported the following:RZA has developed a martial arts film with Hollywood pal Eli Roth called "The Man with the Iron Fist," which he says has "the blessing" of his "teacher," Quentin Tarantino, and he collaborated with Hans Zimmer on the score for the forthcoming Vin Diesel science fiction film "Babylon A.D."

CHUD followed-up with Eli Roth to find out what this is all about. Turns out, RZA is not only writing the film, he's also directing! "This movie will have everything martial arts fans could want, combined with RZA's superb musical talent," said Roth. You can read more of what Roth had to say here.
