Riddick is going Rambo on us

Vin Diesel recently mentioned that we would be seeing a new Chronicles of Riddick film. Now he has told Sci-Fi a little about the plot for the new film:
"We're going to find Riddick alone for the first part of the movie, barely alive, surrounded by carnivorous monsters who are trying to eat him, so you'll see a futuristic Rambo-esque Riddick trying to survive."
That sounds pretty good and more like the Riddick we saw in Pitch Black as opposed to the first Chronicles of Riddick film (although Pitch Black could be the first Chronicle, so that makes this new one the third...I'm confused). Not sure how it will tie in with the ending of the second Riddick film.
Does that plot make you excited about the new Riddick film?
