No More Cuckoo's Nest

The mental hospital, Oregon State Hospital, that was used to film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, way back in 1975 is going to be demolished.

The main building is over 125 years old and has held its fair share of secrets. Apparantly during a 2004 tour, hospital legislators discovered the cremated remains of 3600 mental patients in corroded copper canisters in an abandoned storage room. They reckon the remains dated from the 1880s to the 1970s. Spooky indeed.

The director, Milos Forman, lived for six weeks at the hospital and the actors studied real patients. Jack Nicholson became depressed from what he saw.

The new hospital should be finished by 2011. More on this here.
