M Night Shyamalan's Avatar: The Last Airbender to start shooting
Director M. Night Shyamalan is about to start shooting his next film in his home state, like usual. The Reading (PA) Eagle is reporting that production on Shyamalan's Avatar: The Last Airbender is set to start tomorrow in Reading, PA. Here's an excerpt from the article.Most of the work for the Paramount picture this week will take place at the Pagoda on Mount Penn, following the company's return Monday after 15 days in Greenland.The Last Airbender will star Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis, Shaun Toub, Jackson Rathbone and Aasif Mandvi and will be set for release on July 2, 2010.
Production designers and special-effects crews have been working for several weeks to prepare the local site for the film, which is set in a series of mythical nations - Air, Water, Earth and Fire - and is based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series of the same name.
Pamela Shupp, vice president of Berks Economic Development, said the organization was first contacted several months ago about filming the entire movie in Reading.
"They needed buildings to shoot all the interiors," Shupp said. "They were looking for a group of buildings with high ceilings and specific column spacing. We showed them a number of buildings, but we couldn't come up with enough to meet their requirements. So the interiors will be shot in Philadelphia (where Shyamalan is based)."
That's when the location director noticed the Pagoda, which - despite the structure's recent renovation - will serve as an ancient temple in the film.
Shupp added that the Berks County Conservancy assisted in locating specific rock formations and trees, and that First Energy jumped through hoops to help prepare the Pagoda set.

Jesse resolves to succeed where Victor failed to become a world-class champion surfer. Yet before Jesse gets his chance, he is disqualified for reckless surfing in the lead-up trials.
As a diversion, Jesse's surfing mates Andy, Scotty and Nathan plan a weekend of waves and hedonism with some local girls Debra and Leah. Much to Jesse's dismay, Fergus, Jesse's geeky, fraternal twin brother who has never set foot on a surfboard, gets to tag along.
After a night of first love, the posse hits the waves. Fergus manages to catch a wave after many attempts and is elated, but not for too long. When Victor and his gang arrive at the isolated beach and decide to claim the surf break, an unofficial contest ensues. A rogue wave closes out on the inexperienced Fergus. Victor, Andy and Jesse are overwhelmed by the force of the water. Boards fly. Fergus desperately reaches the surface, only to discover a tragedy unfolding.
A devastated Jesse struggles to find his own identity and a reason to surf.

Men in Black 3 is moving forward
The ShoWest annual convention was kicked off in Las Vegas yesterday and a big bit of news has come forward from the convention floor today. Collider is reporting that Sony Pictures is moving forward with a third Men In Black film.The announcement was made at the Sony presentation by Rory Bruer, president of Sony Worldwide Distribution, who also mentioned the studio was currently working on Ghostbusters 3 and Spider-Man 4 right now.
It was said that Bruer did mention the year 2011 in regards to the film, but it wasn't clear if that was when they were targeting these three films for release or not.

Christopher Nolan's sci-fi Inception gets Page, Cotillard and Murphy
Warner Bros. is in talks with Ellen Page (Juno), Marion Cotillard (Public Enemies) and Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, 28 Days Later) to join the cast of "Inception," Christopher Nolan's latest project which stars Leonardo DiCaprio.In keeping with most things associated with Nolan's project, a veil of secrecy exists over loglines, although it is described as a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within "the architecture of the mind."
However, as the casting process progresses, details are beginning to leak out. DiCaprio's character is mentioned as a CEO-type, while Cotillard would play his wife. Page is a young college grad student and DiCaprio's sidekick.
James Franco was in talks to join the project but had to bow out due to a scheduling conflict with Universal's comedy "Your Highness." Nolan and the studio are aiming for a summer shoot ahead of a 2010 release.

The Rum Diary - Shots of Depp, Nolasco and extras at The San Juan Star
After having filmed several scenes for "The Rum Diary" in Ceiba and El Yunque Rio Grande, Johnny Depp, yesterday shot his first scenes recreated in the building of the newspaper "The San Juan Star" in the Street Tetuán, Cruz corner in Old San Juan - El Vocero de Puerto Rico

Idris Elba is joining The Losers
Idris Elba is the guy who was in The Wire, 28 Days Later, and Ultraviolet. This last one isn't the Milla Jovovich thing from 2006. Nope, I'm talking about 1996 UK TV series where he stared as Vaughn Rice, the tough SAS bloke who fought vampires with carbon tipped bullets. That was a great show and I highly recommend you watch it if you can (there is a bit below).In the six-part British "vampire-slaying" mini-series Ultraviolet we discover that UV light is used (both in surgery and via high-tech weaponry) to identify people who have been infected with a disease labelled "Code 5". It's transmitted via a bite to the neck, but at no point in the series is the word "vampire" used. Instead, in the second episode ("In Nomine Patris") the nickname "Leech" is introduced. We learn that it was this disease, these "Leeches", that were responsible for the Fire of London, and that one in 20 people are already infected. In the opening episode, policeman Michael Colefield (Jack Davenport) is recruited into the secretive CIB. He meets its introverted priest-chief Pearse (Philip Quast), the emotionally driven Dr Angela March (Susannah Harker) and the bullish heavyweight Vaughan (Idris Elba). Spinning around Mike's suddenly complicated life are his best friend's jilted fiancée Kirstie (Colette Brown) and old flame Frances (Fiona Dolman). In later hard-hitting episodes we see a 12-year-old boy stab his teacher priest to death ("Mea Culpa") and the capture of a "Leech" ("Persona Non Grata"). This intriguing series ends having tied together most of its threads, but dangles worrying implications at the viewerThe 36-year old Brit is currently playing the new Dunder-Mifflin exec on The Office, and will be seen in theaters on 24th April 24 in the drama Obsessed, opposite Beyonce Knowles and Ali Larter. Now, according to Hollywood Insider, he's closing in on a a role in the Warner Bros.-Dark Castle thriller The Losers, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen). Elba is negotiating to play Roque, a black ops commando set up by the government. The project is based on the excellent DC-Vertigo comic by Andy Diggle and Jock. It will be directed by Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard).
