The Losers and Freddy Krueger to go head to head in 2010

It looks as if the Comedian and Rorschach will be battling it out in the box office next year.

According to Box Office Mojo, the adaption of DC Comics The Losers will hit theaters on 16th April 2010. This is the same release date as New Line’s A Nightmare on Elm Street

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jackie Earle Haley are the leading men of The Losers and Nightmare.

As far as I was aware The Losers had yet to start filming so it is a bit of a surprise for the release date to be announced so soon.

2010 should be quite a good year for Comic Book lovers - The Losers, Iron Man 2, Jonah Hex and Scott Pilgrim vs The World announced so far.

Out of The Losers and The Nightmare on Elm Street remake which one are you most looking forward to?

Viggo will walk along The Road in October

Dimension Films and 2929 Productions have finally announced that they will be releasing John Hillcoat’s adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel The Road, on October 16th 2009.

Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen, Academy Award winners Robert Duvall and Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and 12-year-old Kodi Smit McPhee star in the the story of a man (Mortensen) and his young son (Smit-McPhee) traveling through a desperate, post-apocalyptic world.

It was meant to be release last year, but was knocked back. I am made up it is finally going to be released as it was one of my favourite books of recent years.

Spider-Man 4 due out in 2011

Marvel Entertainment, Inc. has announced a new set of release dates for its film slate. Included on the new schedule is a 2011 bow for 'Spider-Man 4', with 'The Avengers' getting pushed back nearly a full year to 2012.

Fans can look forward to the webslinger's return on May 6, 2011, as Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire continue the franchise that made Marvel a star player in Hollywood. As with previous 'Spider-Man' films, that one is a Sony Pictures Entertainment production.

Marvel had previously staked out that date for the release of the new 'First Avenger: Captain America' movie, with the mega-crossover pic 'The Avengers' slated to come out few months after. '

Now Marvel has shuffled its film schedule to make room for Spidey. 'Iron Man 2' remains locked into to its previously announced May 7, 2010 release. However 'Thor', which was also slated for 2010, is now on tap for June 17, 2011. 'Captain America' will arrive later that same summer with a July 22, 2011 date.

There have been lots of changes to the plot and the title itself has gone from being called Nottingham to the classic Robin Hood.

Now Original Sharp has the news that the film will be due out in blockbuster season next year on 14th May.

Looks like this may be one of the big movies of next year. Are you excited to see Crowe as Robin Hood?

Warner Bros release dates - Green Lantern, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, Clash of the Titans, Inception, Jonah Hex and Sucker Punch

ERC Box Office is reporting that Warner has announced a slew of release dates, most notably a December 17, 2010 release date for Green Lantern. The site is also reporting that, while the title character hasn't been cast, the studio is eyeing up Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) to direct the superhero film.

The studio also announced a July 15, 2011 release date for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, which is the same date already chosen by Marvel for The Avengers. Warner Bros. also moved Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes to Christmas Day 2009, from an originally-planned November 13 release.

Other release dates set were Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans on March 26, 2010, Christopher Nolan's Inception on July 16, 2010, Jonah Hex on August 6, 2010 and Zack Snyder's recently-announced Sucker Punch on October 8, 2010.

The Road may be delayed

Looks as if The Road may be delayed until next year. Apparantly this change comes right after Harvey Weinstein moved up the release of Stephen Daldry's The Reader to early December. The Road also is not quite finished yet.

However, First Showing go on to say that this is a ludicrous decision by the Weinstein's. They say:

Well, I'm guessing that The Weinstein Company can't handle Oscar season marketing on two movies at once, even though they'd be three or four weeks apart. I can't speak for film's preparedness and if it is indeed ready or not, but I don't think it has heavy CGI work and it did shoot much earlier this year. What can speak for is the fact that The Road already has a lot of early buzz whereas The Reader does not. In fact, I hadn't even heard of The Reader until a few weeks ago. So why are they moving The Road when to me it seems like it would make more money than The Reader?

I have to agree with them. The Road is getting loads of talk around the web and The Reader simply isn't. They should be really pushing The Road as it already has a huge fan base. I know there are quite a few fans of the book who read this site - what do you think of the news?
