The Last Airbender - Trailer
It certainly looks a lot better than Dragonball Evolution and has a similar tone to the original cartoon. If anything the long shot of all the ships reminds me of John Woo's Red Cliff. It definitely has the potential to look epic. All depends upon how good the main kid is at acting I suppose.
You can have a better look at Aang and Dev Patel as Zuko in this photo.
What do you reckon? Good or bad?

The news no-one was waiting for

I like James Marsters. I thought he was cool as Spike in Buffy and Angel and he was good in Torchwood. I always feel he should be a bigger star than he currently is. Unfortunately, unless they up the game on the sequel, I don't think his star will rise any higher.
Mind you he will still be getting paid a shed load of money so he won't be complaining. Hell I'll take a part in the sequel for a big pile of money.

Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch loses a couple more actors but gets Chung and Malone

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chung and Malone join Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish in the film, which Snyder is directing and producing with his Cruel & Unusual Films partner, wife Deborah Snyder.
Set in the 1950s, Sucker Punch centers on a girl confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternate reality to hide from the pain and in that world begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out.
Several actors have been in talks and negotiations to star in the movie, including Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia), Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone, but have fallen away because of scheduling conflicts (surely their schedules were known when they first said they could do it?)
Chung, replacing Stone, plays Amber, a country girl with a big heart. Malone, taking Wood's part, plays Cornish's younger sister. Both characters are inmates.
All seems a bit strange having people who had been confirmed to take part dropping out like this. One I could understand, but now three of the original line-up have changed. I wonder if it is anything to do with Watchmen's underperformance at the box office? I wouldn't be surprised if Vanessa Hudgens is the next to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
I'm still looking forward to this film though as I have enjoyed Snyder's comic book adaptions and it will be interesting to see him do something a bit more original.

James Marsters as Lord Piccolo from Dragonball Evolution

Total Film had this image from Dragonball Evolution, directed by James Wong.
This one shows James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Torchwood) as Lord Piccolo. Green and bald sums it up. Kind of like a stretched out Yoda but with less hair. Below is Piccolo as seen in the cartoons so the makeup job isn't too bad.

Dragonball fans do you want to see this film or should they have stuck to the animated versions?

Dragonball - New Trailer
The young warrior Goku (Justin Chatwin) sets out on a quest, racing against time and the vengeful Lord Piccolo (James Marsters), to collect a set of seven magical orbs that will grant their wielder unlimited power.
What happened to Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi)? He used to be in cool films with slow motion gun fights and doves flying all over the place. Plus James Marsters was Spike in Buffy and now he is a crappy looking Lord Piccolo. What happened to you Chow and James?

Dragonball - Japanese Poster

In my experience the cartoon had mastered the art of stringing out a single cliff hanger incident over a dozen or so episodes to the point of tedium!! The fighting was cool, when they got round to it, and we were always waiting for Goku to go "Super-saiyan" and kicks somethings' ass.
The protagonists go through an unending cycle of fighting, winning, losing, learning important
lessons, then returning to the fight. As the series progresses, the heros continue this cycle by using miraculous devices to achieve life after death, continuing their on-going battles, with the dead heroes continuing to learn lessons in order to defeat their challengers. There're 519 episodes across all the volumes... so brace yourself.
Straight out of Wiki, LOL. I like the last sentance... that summed it it...
A monkey-tailed boy named Son Goku is found by an old martial arts expert and raised as his grandson. One day, during a full moon, Goku transforms into a giant ape and accidentally kills his adopted grandfather, but later has no recollection of it. Several years later, Bulma, on a quest to retrieve the seven Dragon Balls and have her wish granted by the dragon that will appear, meets Goku, now living alone with the four-star Dragon Ball that he treats as his dead grandfather. Goku decides to accompany Bulma on her quest, and along the way, meets and befriends many martial artists, undergoes rigorous martial arts training regimes and educational programs, and faces various challengers and villains, often at the Tenka-ichi Budokai.
As the series continues, Goku goes from childhood into adulthood, and his first child, Son Gohan goes through similar experiences. As Goku evolves, so do many his rivals, including Piccolo and Vegeta, with some changing from evil to good. Goku himself dies and comes back to life several times, and becomes the top martial arts superhero in the universe.
