The Random - Mark Hamill to voice the Joker again, Cowboy Bebop, Green Lantern, King of Fighters, The How-To Guide for Saving the World, Sinbad

Mark Hamill has signed on to voice The Joker in Eidos and Warner Bros’ video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. Kevin Conroy is voicing Batman. The Animated team are back together which is great news.

MTV talked with Reeves recently and finally got confirmation on his involvement with Cowboy Bebop- "we're trying to do that," Reeves said. He also gave his appreciation for groundbreaking anime series: "It's got a western quality, a western film noir aspect to it. It's got so much style to it, and that's part of its appeal. That kind of Old West, bordertown, low-tech science fiction aspect."

Nicole Kidman told the Telegraph that, "I'm not that interested in making films any more." She adds that, "I know I'm not meant to say that, but that's where it is for me now."

Warner Bros President Alan Horn tells Collider that while they are “very anxious to bring Superman back” it will probably happen in “the next couple of years.” He then went on to say,
“I think Green Lantern is probably the best guess but I can’t promise it at this moment,”

Maggie Q has joined the currently in-production King of Fighters live-action film, based on the bestselling 1994 Japanese SNK Playmore video game. It also stars Sean Faris, Ray Park, Will Yun Lee and David Leitch, who doubles as the action choreographer.

MGM and United Artist have hired Barry Sonnenfeld to direct The How-To Guide for Saving the World, an alien action comedy from newcomer BenDavid Grabinski."A loser discovers a book on how to stop an alien invasion and is thrust into action to stop a real one."

Columbia Pictures has hired director Adam Shankman to helm the The 8th Voyage of Sinbad. The story centers on Sinbad and his crew, who are marooned off the coast of China, and embark on a quest to find the Lamp of Aladdin. Along the way they meet a beautiful empress and do battle with fantastical creatures and a rebellious Chinese general who threatens the kingdom.

Ninja Scrolls to go Live Action

This from First Showing.

First it was Akira, now it's Ninja Scroll, too. Leonardo DiCaprio's production company Appian Way will be producing a live-action adaptation of the classic anime movie for Warner Brothers. Screenwriter Alex Tse, who wrote Zack Snyder's upcoming Watchmen as well as Michael Mann's upcoming Frankie Machine, will be writing the script. No director has been announced yet, but considering Akira picked up a no-name director, I expect Ninja Scroll to probably do the same. At one point, it was rumored that James McTeigue's Ninja Assassin was a Ninja Scroll remake, but that was quickly debunked. Now it's actually happening.

Ninja Scroll is a Japanese action thriller anime written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Yoshiaki Kawajiri. The film was first released in Japan in 1993 and made its way to the US in 1996, where it quickly became one of the most popular anime movies in US history. The anime is set feudal Japan and tells the story of a ninja-for-hire who is forced into fighting an old nemesis who is bent on overthrowing the Japanese government. His nemesis is also the leader of a group of demons each with superhuman powers. In addition to Akira, it's regarded as one of the best anime movies ever made and is just as popular.

One of the biggest questions surrounding this is whether or not all of the violence, gore, sex, and nudity will remain intact in this translation. I'm expecting that Warner Brothers will try to make this PG-13, but then again, it could very well be R. I'm thinking they're waiting to see how Ninja Assassin does in theaters, since that is a very hard R ninja movie. Either way, this is quite an exciting future for anime fans, with Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, and now Ninja Scroll all being converted into live-action Hollywood adaptations.

What do you think of that news?
