Official Sherlock Holmes photos - Doesn't look like any Holmes I know

In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous characters, "Sherlock Holmes" sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country. Based on Lionel Wigram's yet-to-be-published comic.
Warner Brothers has finally unveiled two official photos from the film for our viewing pleasure today. One of the shots shows Holmes, played by Robert Downey Jr., and Dr. Watson, played by Jude Law, commiserating over some interesting details. The other shot shows Holmes shirtless and bloody in some sort of fighting pit.
Not sure what to make of these to be honest. Neither are very Holmesey to me, but I suppose that's the thing they are going for. They both look rather generic.
