This trailer is almost identical to the domestic trailer in terms of flow, but does cut in some never before seen footage at various spots along the preview's entire running.

Sherlock Holmes - Posters for Guy Ritchie's new film

Here are a couple of nice looking posters for Guy Ritchie's Lock Stock version of Sherlock Holmes. Nothing like the smog of old London town to give a bit of a backdrop to the master detective. Looking closely though, I must admit that both look like they are almost painted on. Downey Jr still looks nothing like any Holmes we have seen before, but that may be a good thing.

Still the photos and trailer do make it look as if this film will be a lot of fun.

Empire had the posters.

What do you think of them? Are you looking forward to seeing the film?

Snatch Wars - Star Wars vs Snatch Mashup

This is very funny, but as lots of the dialogue is from Guy Ritchie's Snatch there is lots of swearing so not safe for work or the kiddies.

Thoughts on the G.I. Joe and Sherlock Holmes Footage at ShoWest

The good folks over at First Showing have seen some footage of various films at ShoWest in Las Vegas. Here is a snippet of what they thought of a couple of them.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra

Essentially, what I saw was a super charged mix of high tech bio suits, lasers, futuristic military vehicles, guns of every type, jumping, dodging, spinning, bio-gadgetry, and whimsical technology that we only see in movies. And this isn't a good thing. Everybody remembers The Mummy Returns, also directed by Stephen Sommers, and how they just threw in everything they could into that to beef it up and it made it so damn cheesy? Some sort of thing here, except that instead of mummies, we've got Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans wearing ridiculous-looking armored suits with helmets that emulate the Iron Man visor.
Sherlock Holmes
The first thing you need to know is that this isn't the Sherlock Holmes you know… It a funky way, it's kind of like if Snatch were about a British detective from the 1800s, which is exactly what it is, thanks to Guy Ritchie writing and directing. The reaction didn't seem to be overly positive, at least coming from a few other writers that I know. It is a bit of a shock at first, because it's such a big departure from expectations, and I hope most people still like it.

But is it good? To be honest, I enjoyed it, it looked very fun. I'm not expecting anything incredible, and although I do really appreciate Guy Ritchie (I loved both Snatch and even RocknRolla), I wasn't expecting a new Guy Ritchie classic like Snatch. Honestly, I'm just expecting a good popcorn flick, which is exactly what it looks like. The first big shocker is that this looks like a buddy comedy, not a serious movie, with some really zany British humor that may really turn off quite a few people. But of course, you'll all get your own taste of that whenever you get to see this trailer, and can judge for yourself whether it works or not.

Then I remember that it's Robert Downey Jr., in that signature top hat, with his signature pipe, and with six pack abs and no shirt (in one scene where he's boxing another guy), kicking some serious ass, and I'm reminded why I actually still am looking forward to this.
Interesting stuff. I get the feeling G.I. Joe will be a cheese fest with a couple of cool bits thrown in and Sherlock Holmes will split opinion right down the middle. I think it will all depend if you are a fan of Guy Ritchie's previous films.

Teaser poster for Sherlock Holmes

Latino Review snapped the poster for Guy Ritchie's take on Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. It was at the ShoWest in Vegas. I really like the look of the poster but still don't feel that it looks like Holmes.

Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler in Sherlock Holmes

The above photo of Watson (Jude Law), Holmes and Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams) was first shown by USA Today from Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. The newspaper spoke with Robert Downey Jr. about his reactions to the Oscar nomination (Tropic Thunder). It looks as if Sherlock Holmes will be a PG-13 which is a bit of a change for a Guy Ritchie film. The production shifted from London to New York in January and is finishing its last few weeks of shooting.

Official Sherlock Holmes photos - Doesn't look like any Holmes I know

In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous characters, "Sherlock Holmes" sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country. Based on Lionel Wigram's yet-to-be-published comic.
Warner Brothers has finally unveiled two official photos from the film for our viewing pleasure today. One of the shots shows Holmes, played by Robert Downey Jr., and Dr. Watson, played by Jude Law, commiserating over some interesting details. The other shot shows Holmes shirtless and bloody in some sort of fighting pit.
Not sure what to make of these to be honest. Neither are very Holmesey to me, but I suppose that's the thing they are going for. They both look rather generic.

Sherlock Holmes in Liverpool - Elementary Lad!

My neck of the woods and I missed them! Oh well the Echo got some photos and had this to say.

Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law posed for the cameras during a night out on the tiles in Liverpool.

The movie A-listers dined out with friends and cast members at top city restaurant 60 Hope Street.

The award-winning actors were in town to film Guy Ritchie’s adaption of Sherlock Holmes.

The pair chose a window seat in the Hope Street restaurant and could be seen chatting from the street.

They then posed for photographs, with Cold Mountain and Talented Mr Ripley star Law, sporting a moustache for his role as Dr John Watson, telling the ECHO he was enjoying his time in Liverpool.

They signed autographs for fans before heading off for their hotels at 10.15pm.

Earlier yesterday the pair were hard at work filming the supersleuth blockbuster at the city’s disused docks.

Director Ritchie, 40, who was today getting divorced from Madonna, took his two sons to work.

Eight-year-old Rocco joined his dad on location at Liverpool’s Clarence Dock yesterday.

His younger son David, three, who Ritchie and Madonna adopted, joined them on set later.

Ritchie chatted to the boys and texted on his phone while he took a break from directing.

The family was spotted going in to Liverpool’s swanky Malmaison hotel on Wednesday, while Downey Jnr was seen checking into the Radisson, in Old Hall Street, and Law was seen working out in the hotel’s Ark gym.

Iron Man actor Downey Jr, 43, who plays the part of Holmes, arrived on set shortly after 9.30am in a sport utility vehicle.

London-born Law, who plays Watson and had a minor role in the Casebook of Sherlock Holmes TV series, followed along Waterloo Road minutes later in an Audi with blacked-out windows.

He was taken to a Winnebago trailer for make-up and costumes.

The area was full of security, while crew and a cast of actors and extras wearing bowler hats and smoking jackets were on set.

Filming in Liverpool began on Wednesday and was expected to continue for four days.

Some shots were delayed during the first day as Liverpool was lashed with heavy winds and rain.

Jude, 43, had a two-piece tweed suit underneath his heavy overcoat and wore a beanie hat between takes.

Onlookers said Law stood shivering in the cold weather.

The movie is due to be released next year and will show Holmes using physical prowess and intellect to solve mysteries.

The film also stars Wedding Crashers actress Rachel McAdams in the female lead and Mark Strong, from RocknRolla, as the villain.

More Sherlock Holmes Pictures

The Bad and Ugly have more photos from the set of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movie. Looks like Robert Downey Jr is sufficiently happy and action packed. Jude Law just looks moody.

Sherlock Holmes script review from The Playlist

The good people over on The Playlist have got hold of the script for Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movie. It's a good review and basically says it will be an enjoyable romp but not a classic. Here are some snippets.

Like Johnny Depp in 'Pirates,' Robert Downey Jr. will probably make watching Holmes a lot of fun (for the first episode, err, franchise installment anyhow). The new Sherlock is a curious fellow who's not so stiff as past incarnation. He loves to get soused, to box in underground clubs for free and more than anything lives to to detect and do his job. The writer posit him as an aimless man who only comes alive when there's a serious riddle, challenge or villain to solve/tackle (and of course all three the better).

An old school cross between Batman and CSI (version 1.0) Holmes is almost MacGyver like in his seemingly impossible (and amusing) makeshift levels of deduction (Scratches on his door frame? He's an alcoholic cause he can't fit the key in the door soberly!)

His method of true detecting meditation - when it really counts! - is unintentionally hilarious. He squawks away on a violin, parsing his mind rapidly through the labyrinth of clues and possibilities and as he gets closer to solving the dilemma, the cacophonous music begins to subside and become smoother and listenable - of course it does, he's almost figured the complex riddle out! He knows where the bad guy is. Elementary my dear Watson!

Watson 2000 (to be played by Jude Law) on the other hand wants out of the game, he's getting engaged and wants to free himself from the detecting racket despite the excellent asset he is. This friction between the two friends is a dynamic that vacillates back and forth, but you can surely figure out where it goes as its arc is all too predictable and even eye-rolling at times.

What do you think of that?

First look of Jude Law as Dr Watson

We had the first look at Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes a couple of days ago and new Just Jared have some pics of Jude Law as the faithful sidekick, Dr Watson. Now we have seen the detecting duo for Guy Ritchie's latest movie what do you think of it? Will this be one to watch or will it simply fall into the mass of Sherlock Holmes films and TV shows that have been around for years?

First Look at Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes or should that be Chaplin

Here is the first peek of Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie's movie. Looks a bit scruffy to me so I imagine Holmes could be undercover as he was known to do. However, he does bring to mind a certain Charlie Chaplin pic that starred a certain Robert Downey Jr! Still he was great in that and he has been going great guns on all his recent acting roles. I have faith this will be good. Not sure how the Ritchie style will translate to the period feel of the piece. Just Jared had the pics. What do you think of them?

Lestrade cast in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movie

Digital Spy have the news that Hancock villain Eddie Marsan has been cast opposite Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes.

Marsan will portray Inspector Lestrade, a Scotland Yard detective and ally of Holmes in Guy Ritchie’s revamped story of the Baker Street sleuth.

The actor, whose credits also include Happy-Go-Lucky, Miami Vice and Mission: Impossible III, said: “I’m doing Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. I play Inspector Lestrade. Holmes describes him as a man with no imagination.”

Speaking to DS about how the movie will differ from previous incarnations, Marsan added:

“Holmes and Watson are a lot younger, bohemian. It works. Reading the script, Robert Downey Jr. is just perfect for a modern-day Holmes. Also he’s a bit of totty, as well!”

What do you think to that casting news?
