Rachel McAdams to be Irene Adler in Sherlock Holmes Movie

Another casting announcement today and a few new details for Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. Rachel McAdams has joined the film as the romantic love interest, named Irene Adler. The character actually appeared in only one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories in 1891 titled "A Scandal in Bohemia."

She will star opposite Robert Downey Jr as Holmes, Jude Law as Watson and the villian, named Blackwood, will be played by Mark Strong.

What do you think of this? Does there need to be a love interest in the movie?
