Clifton Collins Jr may be in Thor
It looks as if J J Abrams Star Trek may have another link to Kenneth Branagh's Thor film after Chris Hemsworth was cast as Thor.Clifton Collins Jr., who as the Romulan miner Ayel helped to kill Hemsworth’s character, George Kirk, appears to now be vying for a part alongside Hemsworth in the upcoming Marvel Studios film according to MTV.
“Studying my ass off for ‘Thor,’ gonna be a late night, well worth the loss of sleep!” Collins wrote Wednesday on Twitter. “Brewing big pot of joe, hitting ‘Thor’ hard this mornin!”
He also said that he would be heading into an audition for the part later that day, but didn’t specify which part he would be trying out for.
The question is what character would he be auditioning for? Possibily Fandral or Hogun from The Warriors Three. My feeling is that it will be for the part of Hogun based on the recent casting call announcement.
Official Casting Call for HogunClifton Collins Jr is one of those actors who always does top quality work. He was great in The Last Castle. Do you think Collins Jr would work as Hogun (he's the one on the right in the picture below)? If not Hogun who else could be play? Do you think Beta Ray Bill will be in the film?
[HOGUN]Male. ASIAN / SOUTH EAST ASIAN / MONGOLIAN / EAST INDIAN. Late 20s to mid 30s. Grim, stoic, fearless. A man of few words who lives for battle...SUPPORTING.

Paul Verhoeven has The Surrogate
The Dutch director, Paul Verhoeven (Black Book, Total Recall, Robocop, Hollow Man, Starship Troopers) has signed on to develop and direct The Surrogate, a thriller for 20th Century Fox.It is based on the 2004 book by Kathryn Mackel, the story centers on a couple desperate to have a child who find themselves in an unbearable position when they find out the surrogate they hired to carry their baby is insane.
The description from the book is "Kyle and Bethany Dolan reel from years of infertility, miscarriages, and finally, a disastrous hysterectomy. They are desperate to find the perfect surrogate mother to carry their last frozen embryo. Sable Lynde, a computer genius with a dark history, is desperate to escape her own inner demons, her dark past, and a dangerous loan shark. Sable assumes the identity of a surrogacy candidate so perfect that the Dolans welcome her into their family without reservation. As the pregnancy progresses, the dangers of Sable’s deception escalate until the unthinkable happens–Sable’s dark demons spill out into the Dolans’ lives–even as she lies in a coma. A thrill-ride of suspense and terror, this novel leads readers to a breathtaking climax."
The question is will this be good Verhoeven or Showgirls Verhoeven directing it?

Danny McBride is Hench
Warner Bros. has picked up Hench, planning to develop the AIT/Planet Lar graphic novel by Adam Beechen and Mario Bello as a comedy vehicle for Danny McBride.McBride will play a football player who suffers a career-ending injury and needs a job. He signs on as henchman to a successful villain.
The fine line between hero and villain is just another of longtime super-villain henchman Mike Fulton's many scars. Now, faced with a terrible choice that could mean life and death for heroes, villains, his family, and himself, Mike ponders just how his normal life went so crazy.
I've heard about this GN but never actual read it. I liked the concept though.
According to Variety, McBride will write the script with Shawn Harwell.

Farewell to the Relfinator
Today is a sad day.My good friend, Pete Relf - work colleague, man of a thousand names and fellow comic book and video game fan - is finishing work today to travel around Europe.
Do not be fooled. The photo on the left is not that of the brilliant silent movie actor Harold Lloyd it is the Relfinator. It is also a colour photo. Don't ask.
There you have it ExceedTron, Inspector Gadget, McLovin, and all the rest of his names has left the building.
You will be missed Pete. Hey, let's be careful out there.

Chevy Chase will fix the Hot Tub Time Machine
EW has the news that Chevy Chase has been cast opposite John Cusack, Rob Corddry, and Craig Robinson (The Office) in United Artist's Hot Tub Time Machine. It also stars Lizzy Caplan, Crispin Glover, Lyndsy Fonseca, and Clark Duke. That is the comedy in which three grown-up guys return to the hot tub they once partied in, discover it's a time machine, and are transported back to their days of glory.
Apparantly Chase Chase plays a mysterious repairman who dispenses pearls of wisdom and may or may not be behind the metaphysical road trip.
Steve Pink (Accepted) is directing the movie, currently in production, based on a screenplay by Josh Heald.
Sounds to me like Chase's character will be similar to the one Christopher Walken played in that Adam Sandler film, Remote.
Jinja tells me Chase has been great in Chuck and I hope this film is a good one for him as I miss the funny Chevy Chase from Fletch. When did he get so old?

Beautiful Darling - Trailer - Candy came from out on the island-
Beautiful Darling, a documentary film, pays tribute to the short but influential life of an extraordinary person -- the actress Candy Darling, born James Slattery in a Long Island suburb in 1944. Drawn to the feminine from childhood, by the mid-Sixties James had become Candy, a gorgeous, blonde aspiring actress and well-known downtown New York figure. Candy's career took her through the raucous and revolutionary Off-off-Broadway theater scene and into Andy Warhol's legendary Factory. There she became close to Warhol and starred in two Factory movies that still shock and amuse today: Flesh and Women in Revolt. Candy used her Warhol fame to land further film roles, and her admirer Tennessee Williams cast her in his play Small Craft Warnings. She dreamed of becoming a Hollywood star, but tragically died of lymphoma in the early Seventies, at only twenty-nine.
Candy's beauty, humor, and early death, the guts it took to live as a woman, the glamorous parties and the famous friends -- most of all the strength of will she demonstrated in her remarkable act of self-creation -- moved those who knew her in her lifetime and continue to gather fans today. It's a story of wild, creative times and of audacious people, but one that has a theme inspiring for anyone, anywhere: whatever the obstacles, be true to yourself.
Director: James Rasin
Cast: Andy Warhol, Holly Woodlawn, John Waters
Release: 11 June 2009
