UPDATED: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans - Trailer for Werner Herzog's new film starring Cage

More Cage action. Watch him shout, point and look confused.

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is the new Werner Herzog film that continues from Harvey Keitel's version. Apparantly it is not a remake.

Judging by this trailer they haven't really any idea what they wanted to do with the film. All in all it looks a bit of a mess.

It stars Nic Cage, Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes and, wait for it, Xzibit.

Remember, Nic Cage and Eva Mendes last starred together in Ghost Rider.

Cage's best acting role before this was posted recently (you have to watch it), but this may take first place.

Update: The video should now work again

What did you think of that? Will The Sorcerer's Apprentice or Kick-Ass finally lift the bad film curse that Nic Cage seems to currently be under?

Matthew McConaughey as The Lone Ranger

Yesterday I mentioned that Mike Newell could be directing the big screen Lone Ranger. A while back it turned out Johnny Depp would be playing Tonto, but there was no word as to who would be playing that masked man.

Now Jeffrey Wells over on Hollywood Elsewhere had this interesting piece of news.
A guy who tends to hear reliable things read this morning's Lone Ranger item and said that "per studio desire, the leading candidate for The Lone Ranger is Matthew McConaughey. The initial choice was Christian Bale, but there's worry about his spearheading too many franchises so they're waiting to see how McG's Terminator film does. He's carrying a certain prick status at the moment due to his still reverberating rant."

I hadn't even thought of McConaughey in the role as I associate him with either romantic comedies or surfer typer naked bongo shenanigans. He is actual a pretty good actor when given a decent role. Still not sure if he is the best choice to sit in Silver's saddle.

What do you think of surfer dude as the Lone Ranger?

Is Patti Smith in The Rum Diary?

Patricia Lee "Patti" Smith (born December 30, 1946) is an American singer–songwriter, poet and visual artist who was a highly influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album Horses. Called the "Godmother of Punk", she integrated the beat poetry performance style with three-chord rock.

That is her in the picture above.

Pam sent me the picture below of Johnny Depp in Puerto Rico filming The Rum Diary. She told me to look closely at the person to the left of the photo.

It sure does look like Patti Smith doesn't it. I've not heard of her starring in the film and it is more than likely just someone who looks like her, but it is an uncanny similarity.

The same person is in this photo between Jerry Judge and Johnny Depp.

I open it up to you. Do you think it is Patti Smith behind Johnny Depp?

POLL: What Will Smith film is your favourite?

The Fresh Prince, one time partner to Jazzy Jeff, owner of a fine pair of ears, seems to be a really nice bloke and a major movie star. He has starred in many a movie - some good, some not so good - yet which one is your favourite?

POLL: Which is your favourite Christopher Walken film role

Don't vote on the film. Pick the actual performance of Christopher Walken that you enjoyed the most. He's been in a load of films so I couldn't include them all, however if there is one you want to vote for that isn't on then you should be able to add it.

If not then let me know in the comments and I'll get it added.
