The news no-one was waiting for

James Marsters told an interviewer that he'll be filming the sequel to the much-reviled Dragonball Evolution after he gets done touring with his band in Europe this spring and summer. He's just been told he can officially announce a sequel. Even fansite DB The Move greets this news with gritted teeth, saying "Let's just hope that if true, they treat the sequel with a lot more respect."

I like James Marsters. I thought he was cool as Spike in Buffy and Angel and he was good in Torchwood. I always feel he should be a bigger star than he currently is. Unfortunately, unless they up the game on the sequel, I don't think his star will rise any higher.

Mind you he will still be getting paid a shed load of money so he won't be complaining. Hell I'll take a part in the sequel for a big pile of money.

Alien Western - James Marsters will hang 'em high!

I've always liked James Marsters as an actor. He was brilliant as Spike in Buffy. Now it looks as if he is trying to get over the Dragonball film and is starring in a Western with sci-fi trappings. Alien Western - That's a poor name to be honest but I do like the design of the alien and I'm a big fan of Westerns.

With this show and Cowboys & Aliens in development it looks as if the genre mash-up will be around for a while. Marsters stars as Sam Danville, a prisoner who's about to be executed, but his day of reckoning is interrupted by an alien attack.

James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Torchwood) and Cindy Sampson (Supernatural) star in this action-packed World Premiere thriller from RHI Entertainment, a small town in the untamed West comes under attack by a full-scale alien invasion. No one invited them, but nothing can stop them!

Alien Western premieres on the Syfy Channel on June 1st and there are a few trailers and clips below.

James Marsters as Lord Piccolo from Dragonball Evolution

Total Film had this image from Dragonball Evolution, directed by James Wong.

This one shows James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Torchwood) as Lord Piccolo. Green and bald sums it up. Kind of like a stretched out Yoda but with less hair. Below is Piccolo as seen in the cartoons so the makeup job isn't too bad.

Dragonball fans do you want to see this film or should they have stuck to the animated versions?

Dragonball - New Trailer

Here is the new trailer for the Dragonball film that is directed by James Wong (Final Destination, The One, Final Destination 3).

The young warrior Goku (Justin Chatwin) sets out on a quest, racing against time and the vengeful Lord Piccolo (James Marsters), to collect a set of seven magical orbs that will grant their wielder unlimited power.

What happened to Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi)? He used to be in cool films with slow motion gun fights and doves flying all over the place. Plus James Marsters was Spike in Buffy and now he is a crappy looking Lord Piccolo. What happened to you Chow and James?

James Wong directs. James Marsters above reaching for the toilet paper with his giant hand.I don't know much about the whole Dragonball universe so I'm not going to comment on whether the photos do justice to the manga. Let me know if they do or don't.

Dragonball is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world. It tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth, who has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys. Justin Chatwin is starring as the hero Goku, while James Marsters will play the villain Piccolo in the sci-fi adventure.

Here's a better quality version of the recently posted Dragonbal Teaser Trailer. Again, what do you think?
