More lovely images from the excellent looking Astro Boy. MTV had them and below we see Dr. Tenma (Nicolas Cage) and Dr. Elefun (Bill Nighy).
In the picture below we see President Stone (Donald Sutherland) and a big robot.
The film tells the story of a scientist, Dr. Tenma (voiced by Nicolas Cage) who replaces his lost son with a powerful robot (Freddie Highmore), who must then come to terms with his own identity as a child, a robot and, most importantly, a hero.

Astro Boy - New Teaser Trailer

Astro Boy is due out on 23rd October 2009.

Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist named Tenma (Nicolas Cage). Powered by positive “blue” energy, Astro Boy (Freddie Highmore) is endowed with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly.

Embarking on a journey in search of acceptance, Astro Boy encounters many other colorful characters along the way. Through his adventures, he learns the joys and emotions of being human, and gains the strength to embrace his destiny. Ultimately learning his friends and family are in danger, Astro Boy marshals his awesome super powers and returns to Metro City in a valiant effort to save everything he cares about and to understand what it takes to be a hero.

Astro Boy - First still from the film and the teaser trailer

Cinematical has been given an exclusive look at the first official still for Astro Boy (see above), and there has also been a teaser trailer released (see below or over on Moviefone in glorious HD). Based on the popular Japanese manga and television series, this computer-animated 3-D version of Astro Boy is being produced by those wizards over at Imagi Animation Studios, and stars the voices of Freddy Highmore, Kristen Bell, Nicolas Cage, Bill Nighy, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane and Eugene Levy.

From the synopsis: "Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers. Powered by pure positive "blue" energy, Astro Boy (Freddie Highmore) is endowed with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly-not to mention the purest spirit on the planet. Today it was announced that Dominic Monaghan (Lost) and Freddy Rodriguez (Six Feet Under) have been cast in a horror thriller called Fortuna which sounds a bit like The Running Man meets Children of Men. Set in the year 2100, where “a collapsed economy and climate crises have eliminated the middle class” leaving a divide between the really rich and extremely poor. To avoid a revolt from the masses, the rich elite create a game called Fortuna, where one out of every thousand players will win a chance to join the upper class. Contestants are never seen from again.

Someone is selling a restored Ghostbuster’s Ecto-1 which was used in Universal Studios Florida for over fifteen years.

Warner Bros. Pictures is developing "Thumb," a comedy-adventure film featuring 16th century mischievous shrunken folklore character Tom Thumb says the trades.

David Cronenberg is in talks to helm The Matarese Circle, a global conspiracy thriller based on the 1979 book by the late author Robert Ludlum (the Bourne franchise). Denzel Washington is already attached to play one of the leads in the MGM production.
