Billy is Surviving Evil - He's a cool dude

Terence Daw's Surviving Evil stars Billy Zane and The Descent's Natalie Mendoza fighting some nasty creatures.. The film premieres in South Africa this July with a followed by a UK release in September. No word yet on a U.S. release.

Billy Zane, one of the coolest actors out there who has never achieved the greatness he should have had. Mind you he has been in some really dire films. As Chisholm always said, he would have made a great Bruce Wayne / Batman back in the day. Plus my Wife can never understand why Kate Winslet would want to go with DiCaprio when she had the Zanester there all studly in his dinner jacket.

In this new film Zane is a TV survival host whose show taping on a remote Philipine island becomes that much more dangerous when they disturb the domain of an Aswang, a hideous ghoul of Filipino lore.

A TV documentary crew arrive on a remote island in the Philippines to film a survival special. Their back-to-the-wild adventure proves to be more terrifying than they ever could have imagined.

Hoth on a Space Hopper - LFF sweded Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back film

Here is a little film me and the boys did one snowboarding holiday a few years ago. It was one of those days when the snow was coming down hard and the mountain was closed. Being stuck in the apartment we drank, ate and chatted about things. Eventually we got the idea to do some filming in the snow (we'd already been videoing ousrselves doing stupid stuff - but wanted to make something a bit more substantial...but still a bit stupid).

Someone mentioned how it looked like Hoth outside so we got our gear together, wrapped up warm and headed outside. On the walk down we quickly went through what happened in those opening scenes of Empire Strikes Back. Luke sees the meteor strike, gets hit by a Wampa, escapes from the cave, sees Obi-Wan, Han sets off on Taun-Taun to find him. Cool and the gang but we had no Taun-Taun. Luckily we had a space hopper and that worked splendidly. The lightsaber was a can of deep heat I think and it went pretty well (although it got cut short as the cold ate into the battery time.

Everyone did a cracking job, especially Rob who, as Luke Skywalker, was willing to stay in the snow even though he was freezing. I did the filming, Jinja was Han Solo, Andy D was Taun-Taun wrangler and Obi-Wan, Ian was Chewbacca, Rich and Chisholm were rebel soldiers and prompts.

Jinja did the editing and matched it up perfectly with the sound track. He also flipped the image so Luke was hanging from the ceiling as I didn't think to turn the camera upside down on the day!

I keep trying to figure out how we can do the speeder bike chase from Return of the Jedi using vacuum cleaners.

Have a look and let me know what you make of it. Brilliant, while getting the embed code for it from Youtube I've just seen that it has had over 8,000 hits. I'll post the other bits of film we've done over the next few days.

Confessions of an Action Star - Poster and trailer for mockumentary. Chuck Norris and Steve Chisholm are nowhere to be seen, but Angelina Jolie is

Confessions of an Action Star is a mockumentary that follows the life of stripper-turned-action star Frank Sledge. This does look rather funny and makes me wonder if Chisholm (check out the interview with action hero, Steve Chisholm) may have met his match?

Looks like the film spoofs a few films such as The Matrix (plus the film stars Agent Smith and Trinity) .

At first I thought this was a mega low budget film, that would be funny but not essential viewing. However, looking at the cast list it stars a number of well known actors as themselves - Angelina Jolie, Kelly Hu, Ernie Hudson, Joel Moore, Carrie-Anne Moss, the mighty Eric Roberts, Hugo Weaving, and Sean Young.

The main star though is David Leitch who plays Frank Sledge. David looks to be a proper stunt man and has worked on a number of films that are too numerous to mention here.

I'll be keeping an eye on this as it looks like it could turn out to be something special.

"The Wolves are Running" - The Box of Delights needs to be remade

Chisholm and the rest of us at Live For Films got to talking about Christmas and things we remember watching as kids (although it's not clear if Chisholm was ever a child or whether he was simply torn from the Earth fully formed). One of them was the BBC adaption of John Masefield's 1935 children's book, The Box of Delights.

The central character is Kay Harker who, on returning from boarding school, finds himself mixed up in a battle to possess a magical box, which allows the owner to go small (shrink) and go swift (fly), experience magical wonders contained within the box and go into the past.

The owner of the box is an old Punch and Judy man called Cole Hawlings, whom Kay meets on a railway station. They have an instant rapport, and this leads Cole to confide that he is being chased by a man called Abner Brown and his gang. For safety, Cole entrusts the box to Kay, who then goes on to have many adventures.

The Box of Delights was adapted for television by the BBC in 1984, featuring Patrick Troughton (Dr Who) and Robert Stephens. It was broadcast November–December, in six parts, with the last episode transmitted on Christmas Eve. Starring Devin Stanfield as Kay and directed by Renny Rye, it used an innovative mixture of live action and animation, with Quantel Paintbox and chroma key effects to bring the adventure alive. Noted for its yuletide atmosphere (it is set during Christmas), the series has become something of a nostalgic treat for followers of cult TV. The seasonal theme music is Victor Hely-Hutchinson's orchestral arrangement of "The First Noël" from his Carol Symphony.

Everything about this reminds me of Christmas as a kid. Everyone seemed to watch it and wait for the next episode in the hope of seeing an amazing (for the time) special effect - whether it be a man walking out of a painting, a demon from the pit, wolves with glowing eyes or people shrinking or flying. It is crying out for a remake due to the progress in special effects since 1984 (I cannot believe it is that old). Here's the opening for the TV series (should bring back some fond memories for many of you).

Steven Seagal is Katana master Tao in Against the Dark. Here be Vampires!

ShockTillYouDrop has news on Steven Seagal's next movie, Against the Dark. Here is the plot and it is the ultimate plot of all time, ever!!!

"Katana master Tao (Steven Seagal) leads a special ops squad of ex-military vigilantes on a massacre mission, their target: vampires.

On the post-apocalyptic globe, sucked dry by bloodthirsty vampires, a few remaining survivors are trapped in an infected hospital. Tao is their only hope and he knows the only cure is execution. Now it’s time for the last stand against the flesh-eating vampires and there’s nothing left to lose but the last of humanity.”

How cool does that sound? Read that last line again, "there's nothing left to lose but the last of humanity" that's some serious stuff going on there, but Tao knows the only cure is execution...which means there isn't going to be many people left by the end of it. Not really a cure there Steven. Oh well, it's got the Steven "I'm just the cook" Seagal stamp of Kick-assness. Plus it has flesh-eating vampires. These guys don't just suck blood, they eat the flesh.

One other thing. What on earth are "ex-military vigilantes"?

Richard Crudo (Crudo - now that could be an incredibly ironic name, don't you think) directs this, destined to be watched late at night after downing much booze, film (Live For Films is not encouraging drinking kids, just stating a fact). I'll be watching it, can you afford not to?

Why remake it? Jaden Smith to be The Karate Kid

Why oh Why oh Why Hollywood! Some remakes I can understand, but this just doesn't need to be done at all. The one starring whatsherface, Hilary Swank, was a big pile of (rhymes with Swank) and now this sounds crapola.

Variety confirms that Jaden will star in a “refashioned” remake of the 1980’s classic, The Karate Kid. Want more naffness, the film will be set in an exotic locale, with a shoot planned for next year in Beijing. Chris Murphy’s screenplay is said to “borrow elements” from the original film, and is not a strict remake.

Jaden, an avid practitioner of karate, made his big screen debut as Will Smith’s son, which must have been hard to act, in Pursuit of Happyness. He can be seen next in The Day the Earth Stood Still. No word on if Stephen Chow will be involved as was originally rumoured (he was meant to be Mr Miyagi). He will be busy with The Green Hornet.

For this rumour I hope it gets wiped off! See what I did there? I look forward to Chisholm's thoughts on this remake news.

Cool 2000AD Canvas Prints

I saw these over on Firebox and thought, "that's cool I wouldn't mind one of them." Then I thought hold on I could do something like that myself. Then I thought £89.95 a pop. I should be doing that and selling them. Then I thought,"I need more time."

Is this a photo from the new movie Che? Actually, nope it ain't. Its a photo of Andy D and the Chisholm in the back country. I apologise for the pixalation but it seems its technically impossible to actually capture Chisholm on camera. In fact its theoretically impossible to capture him with anything.

Force Unleashed - Darth Vader at Game (Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port)

Received minutes ago from the phone of Jinja. He, along with Chisholm have risked the might of the Dark Lord of the Sith to get hold of the new Force Unleashed game. The good people at Game got Vader and his Stormtroopers in for a pretty cool publicity stunt...although the photo does show a lot of Borders.

KITTnapped - Knight Industries super car stolen!

Apparently on a publicity event almost a week ago in Toronto Canada, someone managed to steal the actual Modified Mustang that is used in the new NBC series Knight Rider.

RGBFilter says The car was making a stop in Toronto for a publicity stunt in front of Union Station on Front Street.

The car was being unloaded from its transport trailer for a crowd of onlookers. When its handler turned her back for a moment, a man darts from the median, jumps into the still-running ride, and peels off heading East on Front Street.

In the video, you see the security team member wheel the new KITT off the flatbed truck and then exit the car (still running) to return to the truck. With the door still open, some impulsive car thief ran out and hopped in the car and took off.

According to those in attendance, this was a legitimate theft, and not a publicity stunt. If it was then they hired nothing but actors for the security team and PR people because moments after the video, the shit hits the fan and everyone is clearly upset.

Its been almost a week and no one has exposed it as publicity, and its not said if it was recovered.

Now, the network behind the new show has revealed that the "theft" was actually part of a "unique viewer engagement promotion" giving fans a chance to win a new Ford Mustang."

On the final day of KITT's celebrity tour, crowds of Knight Rider enthusiasts were left stunned when a man ran out of the crowd, dove into KITT and screeched off," E! said in a statement Tuesday.

"Intense speculation spread across news outlets and viral communities promoted by links to YouTube with audience cell phone footage of the 'KITTnapping' action. And now E! is looking for help to find KITT."

The contest calls for participants to post where KITT has been spotted at eonline.com and watch E! for updated daily KITT sightings.

Fans have the chance to win a Mustang GT Coupe or a number of limited edition Mio Knight Rider GPS units.

JCVD - Van Damme in good movie shock?

JCVD, the apparantly acclaimed Cannes sensation featuring washed-up action star Jean-Claude Van Damme as himself. It's currently got 7.4 / 10 on IMDB. Plus the cinematographer is called Pierre-Yves Bastard. Now that's a name you don't mess with!

Chisholm, where is your movie in response?!

Here is a snippet from Variety's review:

Ho-hum hostage crisis mayhem serves to buttress co-scripting helmer Mabrouk El Mechri's more experimental stunts, including a tonally opposite pair of longish takes -- one a wonderfully absurd ode to star's martial-arts moves, the other a tear- and prayer-filled Van Damme monologue that must be seen to be believed. An adventurous U.S. minimajor could reap modest B.O. following a June 4 French release.

Incalculably superior in tone, attitude, intent, and intellect to bulk of bodybuilder vehicles, shrewdly produced pic limits limber star's acrobatics to first and last scenes without great detriment to whole. Bottle Shock - Poster and Trailer

Another movie starring the genius that is Alan Rickman. This one is based on a true story.

Interview - Steve Chisholm, Action Hero

In order to keep the site fresh and exciting I have recently sent off a load of interview requests to various people in the movie business. So far I've had a few very polite, but ultimately negative responses. As it is still early days for the site this is to be expected. I'm a tiny fish in a very big pond. Daniel Craig's people have said he is out of the country, Ray Winstone's people told me he is off filming and Helena Bonham Carter's people have advised me she is too busy. The nice thing though is they have all been really polite and have even wished me good luck with the site. Still lots more people to hear from. I've got my money on Simon Pegg. We shall see.

However, just to get the interview thing underway here is one I did with the regular contributor to the site, Chisholm. He truly is the greatest movie action hero there never was and has starred in numerous movies you won't have seen. It’s a tough one but there’s a guy called "the Russian", hard as nails! Alternatively id play "the Russian" playing myself!

Enter the Dragon,I'd play Bruce Lee’s fist! He was one hard sucker!
Interesting story actually regarding my premature birth. During the filming of Game of Death my Mother was on set performing the stunts for Bruce. He was showing her his 1 inch punch and accidently caught her in the midriff. Unbeknownst to my mother she was 5 months pregnant and dropped me right there. Apparently I wasn’t impressed and let rip with a "Flying ½ inch punch of Judah" The rest as you know is history!

What novel, that has been so far been missed by Hollywood, would make the ultimate Film?
Not really a Novel as such but my Auto Biography, simply entitled "Chisholm, in your face! "

What have you done in life that you would make sure your kids would never do?
As you know on set I perform all my own stunts including action sequences for other actors. During the filming of Hard as Death 2, I fell 95ft breaking both legs in 65 places and temporarily paralysing myself from the neck up. During the 2nd take I momentarily winced with pain whilst performing the running scene showing an uncharacteristic split-second of weakness and emotion.

Who or what has been the biggest influence in your life?
The film Shaolin Delivery Boy "who ordered the pain to go!" It opened my eyes to a whole new way of physical violence.

What Question do you wish people would ask you but never do?
Can we have a sequel to "Baghdad Blues, the Uzi days"
