Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is the new Werner Herzog film that continues from Harvey Keitel's version. Apparantly it is not a remake.
Judging by this trailer they haven't really any idea what they wanted to do with the film. All in all it looks a bit of a mess.
It stars Nic Cage, Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes and, wait for it, Xzibit.
Remember, Nic Cage and Eva Mendes last starred together in Ghost Rider.
Cage's best acting role before this was posted recently (you have to watch it), but this may take first place.
Update: The video should now work again
What did you think of that? Will The Sorcerer's Apprentice or Kick-Ass finally lift the bad film curse that Nic Cage seems to currently be under?

I'm pretty sure that it only seems a mess due to it being a sales trailer rather than an audience trailer.
i hope this isnt reli by the awesome, godlike werner herzog but his little evil brother of the same name :S
I've just watched this twice with the sound off (small person in the room) and it looks appalling. Somehow I don't think dialogue is going to make it any better.
Why Werner, why????
this looks INCREDIBLE! i love all that crazy shit with the Lizard (did y'all spot Val Kiler - Jim Morrison reference or what!) and with Nic pointing that fucking MAGNUM at that womans face and at the end SHOOT HIM AGAIN HIS SOUL IS DANCIN'! thats Herzog craziness right there!! stop being a fucking sheep and hating Nic Cage because all the other twats in the world think its cool to do so...
Nic Cage has become a caricature of his former awesome self.
Everytime I hear of a new film with him in I think, this is it, he's going to be great again, but no.
I loved him in Wild at Heart, The Rock, Con Air and Snake Eyes.
Have to stick up for the Cagester. Haven't seen many of his recent flicks but he was very fine in Adaptation, Matchstick Men and World Trade center. I very much enjoyed Knowing but have to admit that he was quite awkward in many scenes.
regardless of all that - he's made his bones with all the great films he has been in in the past...so what if he is now making stuff purely for the love of the game? you can bet your ass you'd do the same with the amounts of money that go flying around...plus you have to remember that his name green lights projects alone...which means films get made, which means people get work and people get paid.
he has alot of respect in the industry for doing this kinda thing...plus, no one forces you to watch his films.
"I loved him in Wild at Heart, The Rock, Con Air and Snake Eyes." - yup and hated him in everything else!
"plus, no one forces you to watch his films." - phew, that's a relief!
By the Holy Ghost of Elvis you will watch all of my films or my sons name is not Kal-El!
Thank you very much. Where's my wig?
cage was great in moonstruck & con air. some others were real stinkers, but in all fairness to him you can't really judge the work until you read the script. many people control what makes it to the screen. when i see a really awful movie the first thing i want to do is get a copy of the script. so many films start out with a good script and end up butchered to hell.
