Jonny Quest is Zac Efron. So says the Rock

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, “Race to Witch Mountain” director Andy Fickman, Zac Efron are teaming up for a feature film version of the cartoon classic The Adventures of Jonny Quest

The animated series (first aired in the 60s) told of a boy, 11-year-old Jonny, who accompanies his father, Dr. Benton Quest, on extraordinary adventures. Fearing Jonny could end up in the wrong hands, a special agent / bodyguard / pilot from Intelligence One Government, Race Bannon, is hired to guard and train him.

Zac Efron could possibly play the title role, with Dwayne Johnson as his Race Bannon.

‘’ I love the script, I love working with Andy...’’, Johnson tells Moviehole. “I don't know if you've read the latest [draft] but it's awesome and it's badass and I haven't read, this is what I told everyone over at Warner Bros., and I love the studio too by the way, you know, I had my experience with them with Get Smart and they were great, I hadn't read an action script like that in a LONG time. And that action was unbelievable. That will happen.’’

Johnson confirms that he’ll be Race Bannon, and that rumours suggesting Zac Efron might be Jonny Quest are on the money. Efron isn’t a lock though – and Johnson’s all ears. You see, in the source material the character is only twelve years old, but Efron’s 17. ‘’I loved Jonny Quest when I was a kid. If you go a little older, it gives you more, it allows you to be...it just gives you a bit more, you know. But then you want to honor it too, so... “

17 Again - Poster for Zac Efron does Big style comedy

The film is about a guy (Matthew Perry) who gets to turn back time and be seventeen again (Efron) rewriting his life in the process. Also starring: Leslie Mann (director Judd Apatow’s wife), Gossip Girl’s Michelle Trachtenberg, The Office’s Melora Hardin, Weeds’ Hunter Parrish, 90210’s Adam Gregory and Rita Rocks’ Nicole Sullivan.

Zac Efron and Matthew Perry star in the age-defying comedy 17 Again, in which a magical transformation finds Mike reliving his past in the present day as a 17-year-old in the same high school he attended 20 years ago. But this time around, his own teenage kids are his peers and his wife is the unsuspecting object of his affection. Zac Efron denies rumour that he'll be in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Shiny faced, make-up wearing Zac Efron has denied reports he is set to star in the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie - but insists he would love to be asked.

Tabloid reports last week speculated that Efron would be groomed to eventually take over from Johnny Depp in the Disney franchise.

It was said that the High School Musical star would pick up a $10 million (£6.1 million) paycheque for the starring role.

However, Efron told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning: "Honestly, at this time it's just a rumour."

But the actor is hopeful it could happen - and would snap up the opportunity if it was offered to him, adding, "I wish I was going to be in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, so hopefully that will happen for me."

I pray to whatever deity that is out there that this never comes to pass. What do you think?

Me and Orson Welles starring Zac Effron

Seventeen-year-old Richard Samuels (Zac Efron) spends his days dreaming of the bright lights of Broadway. He gets his big break when he happens upon Orson Welles (Christian McKay) and his fledgling Mercury Theatre company. Richard impresses Welles with an impromptu audition and lands a bit part in the Mercury's forthcoming run of Julius Caesar. With Welles's womanizing taking priority over rehearsals, chaos and calamity mark the production from the start. Before long, opening night has arrived and Richard will discover the terrible secrets of show business.

Me and Orson Welles is directed by Richard Linklater, of Dazed and Confused, Waking Life, Before Sunset, and A Scanner Darkly previously. The screenplay was adapted by first-time writers Holly Gent Palmo and Vincent Palmo Jr., who was a second unit director on nearly all of Linklater's films. The film is based on a novel of the same name written by Robert Kaplow.
