Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions

This music clip from the MTV Movie Awards is a cool little song, funny and has a very valid point.

Host Andy Samberg joined Will Ferrell to sing "Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions."

Look at the evidence - The Joker, Robocop, Iron Man, Wolverine and J.J. Abrams are walking away.
Brilliant. What other examples did they miss?

Eminem sees rather a lot of Bruno at the MTV Movie Awards

This year’s MTV Movie Awards had a memorable moment involving Sacha Baron Cohen in character as Bruno dressed as an angel flying above the crowd.

The wires got tangled, Bruno fell down into the crowd and Eminem got rather a close look at Bruno's nether regions.

Eminem then left the building.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - MTV Movie Awards Clip

There are a whole heap of Decepticons in this clip from that was shown at the MTV Movie Awards. Insecticons, Starscream and it basically makes the Harvester attack scene in Terminator Salvation seem a little stale.

Watchmen 2? No way!

The first film can't even get on screen before the money men are talking sequels. At least that's what actor Patrick Wilson told MTV. "It's all been talked about," Wilson said. "Financially, they like to do that. But all of us, [director] Zack [Snyder] included, all go, 'How on Earth could you do a sequel or prequel?'"

While Wilson acknowledged the presence of a clause in his contract that allowed for sequels, he was quick to add that these types of arrangements are standard fare these days, citing their presence (and even more unlikely use) in Snyder’s previous blockbuster adaptation, “300.”

What do you think of this? Could a Watchmen prequel / sequel work? Where could it go? The computer game is apparantly going to be set before the events in the movie / graphic novel? No doubt Alan Moore will comment on this soon.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be hybrid of CGI and Live Action

MTV have the news on this in their interview with Peter Laird.

MTV: Why another live-action TMNT film, and why now?

PL: As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin. We have pretty much decided that the next “TMNT” movie should be what we’ve been calling a “hybrid” — that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters).

MTV: If the hybrid “TMNT” film moves forward, what type of story is it going to tell? Will it be an origin story or something in continuity with one of the other TMNT properties?

PL: The storyline for this new “hybrid” movie has not been settled on yet. We’re still batting some different ideas around. The sky’s the limit. My preference would be a story which fits into TMNT movie continuity in some way. But nothing has been decided.

What Joss would have done with the Dark Knight

Cheers to Del for sending me this.

Apparantly Joss Whedon had a go at writing a script for the Batman reboot that Christopher Nolan eventually won. Whedon said his tale would have been a "bit less epic" and have mainly been set in Gotham City.

"He didn't go to Tibet and meet cool people, but it was very similar in vibe," Whedon told MTV.

"In my version, there was actually a new [villain], it wasn't one of the classics - which is probably why they didn't use it. It was more of a Hannibal Lecter type - he was somebody already in Arkham Asylum that Bruce went and sort of studied with."
"It was a whole thing - I get very emotional about it, I still love the story. Maybe I'll get to do it as a comic one day."

I personally hope that Joss Whedon gets a chance to write a comic book movie. His take on Wonder Woman sounded good but it was just not to be. So that's two of the big DC Trinity that Joss has been involved with to varying degrees. I wonder if he'll get a chance to write the next Superman movie?
