Harrison Ford, what are you doing?

Words fail me on this one. Think of a good caption and whack it in the comments.

Thanks to Tommy Salami for digging this up.

Check out this photo of Harrison looking a bit smarter and with some other familiar faces. Oh and his reaction here when William Shatner sings to George Lucas is priceless.

Harrison Ford to be Indiana Jones once more

Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford may well be donning the hat once more.

According to The Insider, Harrison, who turns 67 later on this month, will play the role of Indy in the fifth film in the series and it is claimed it will be his last performance as the adventurer.

It is claimed filming will not start until next year, and it will not be released before 2011, when the star will be 69.

A source said: “Harrison has kept himself in good shape and could still do a lot of the stunts in the last film.”

The source added: “But it’s obviously not going to get any easier the older he gets. He certainly would never have imagined playing Indiana Jones when he was nearing 70!”

Nothing like an unsubstantiated source! However, this does tie into Shia Labeouf's claim that Steven Spielberg had got a story sorted for the fifth Indy film.

Do you want to see another Indy film? What would you want to see in it?

Shia talks Indiana Jones 5

While chatting to the BBC about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Shia LaBeouf mentioned news about a certain archaeologist.

"Steven [Spielberg] just said that he cracked a story on it before I left and I think they're gearing that up."

That is pretty much all he says apart from that fact that there are "definitely no special effects in that movie."

I think the last part is in reference to the fact that the Transformers film is chock full of CGI (rather like the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).

This is what you call early days, but it does look as if they are kicking around the idea of a 5th Indiana Jones film. It is sad that this news doesn't thrill me as much as it should do. The most recent film was such a disappointment.

If they do make another I hope the story is great, they cut out silly CGI and actually let Indy solve the mystery instead of some gibbering idiot.

How do you feel about the possibility of a new Indy film? What do you want in it and what don't you want in it?

Crossing Over - Poster for Harrison Ford film

Bad, bad photoshopping to stick the four faces together on the top of the poster and what's with Jim's stubble? Like on of those iron filing magnet game things. Finally I think Harrison Ford has just smelt something bad.

Crossing Over is written and directed by South African filmmaker Wayne Kramer (The Cooler, Running Scared). The film also stars Sean Penn, Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Alice Eve, Alice Braga, and Jim Sturgess.

The Wolf Man is Han Solo? Who's in the what now?

I saw this on io9 and had to share. It is the action figure for The Wolf Man as portrayed by Benicio del Toro and directed by Joe Johnston. They are obviously commenting on his extraordinary likeness to a certain scruffy looking nerf herder. It just made me chuckle.

Crossing Over - Trailer for Harrison Ford's latest film

Immigrants from around the world enter Los Angeles every day, with hopeful visions of a better life, but little notion of what that life may cost. Their desperate scenarios test the humanity of immigration enforcement officers. In "Crossing Over," writer-director Wayne Kramer explores the allure of the American dream, and the reality that immigrants find and create -- in 21st century L.A.

Starring: Harrison Ford, Jim Sturgess, Ashley Judd, Alicia Braga, Alice Eve, Ray Liotta and Sean Penn (cheers for the assist Falfa!)

Sarah Silverman is doing what with Matt Damon?

This is fantastic - don't let the kids see it. Sarah Silverman is seeing Jimmy Kimmel, but she has something to tell him. Something important.

Jimmy is not best pleased so gets his own back.

Thanks to Jinja for pointing that out. What did you think of it?

Star Wars Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) - Movie Review

Director: Irvin Kershner
Starring: Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, David Prowse, James Earl Jones, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker.
Running Time: 127 minutes
Score: 10 /10

Here is the next installment of Alan's marathon review through the Star Wars movies.

In the last issue of Empire magazine, there was a countdown of the top 500 films that have ever been made as voted for by film makers, critics and go-ers alike. Their aim? To filter down and sift out all the films that has ever been made and see which came out top.

It would therefore come to no surprise to you all that The Empire Strikes Back came in at No. 3 in the overall list. No mean feat in context and also, no surprise.

It is widely agreed that this film is the best Star Wars film that has been made in the double trilogies. Again, no surprise there, as this film has it all.

Not only does it have some light hearted humour to try and humanise the characters even more than the original, it also has large and grandiose set pieces – The Empire’s attack on Hoth, the Falcon’s escape through the asteroid field, Luke’s training on Dagobah, Cloud City in Bespin and the culmination of the film with the biggest ever twist known at the time and possibly since.

This film is the classic example of taking a good film and making it even better. There is a saying around Tinsletown that you can’t make a sequel better than the original. Not only did this film break that saying into a thousand pieces, it also set the bar for all other sequels to attempt to equal. To my mind, this has still to be done.

This film is more polished and the special effects are significantly improved from A New Hope. Also, the fact that George Lucas didn’t direct or solely write the screenplay for this is also a contributing factor. I’m not saying that Lucas is a poor director – THX 1138 and American Graffiti put paid to that – but I feel that when Kerschner took over the reins as director, he helped put it on an even keel and took the film forward.

Empire also served as an excellent vehicle for character development. We saw Luke emerging as this raw and fledgling-like Jedi, the love between Han and Leia blossoming in difficult circumstances, the introduction of new characters – Yoda, Lando and everyone’s personal favourite, Boba Fett.

However, the fulcrum of this whole film, and what basically propelled it as everyone’s favourite SW film, is the scene in the depths of Cloud City. Luke and Vader have had the most intense lightsaber fight and Luke has been battered and bruised by Vader’s supreme handling of the Force. Not only has Vader cornered Luke into an outpost, he has also taken his right hand as the fight culminated. Already, we can see the device that the two of them are connected in some way. And then the conversation:

“…Obi-wan never told you what happened to your Father”
“He told me enough, he told me that you killed him!”
“No, I am your Father!”

It is at that moment that got everyone hooked on the Star Wars franchise and has spawned four more sequels, countless merchandising opportunities and Leia in a gold bikini…God bless you George Lucas!

As with all reviews, you have to find a mid-level; look for the good as well as the bad. As I am sitting here, I’m racking my brains furiously trying to think of a negative on this film. I can quite easily say that I cannot think of one. This film quite rightly deserves its place in the top 3 films of all time.

10/10 – A timeless piece of film that forever brings out the schoolboy in all of us!

PS. If you want to know who beat Empire to the top two positions, Raiders of the Lost Ark was at No. 2 and The Godfather (Part 1) was at No. 1. Can’t really disagree with that!

What do you think of that?

Another Indiana Jones film?

Geoff Boucher of the LA Times blog Hero Complex caught up with the legendary Harrison Ford recently. Apparently George Lucas is already hard at work on coming up with a story for a fifth film. Ford says, "It's crazy but great… George is in think mode right now."

Crystal Skull ended up making $317 million in the USA and $783 million worldwide, which is more than enough to warrant a sequel.

What do you think of this news? Do you want to see another Indy? When should it be set? What artifact should be in it?

No Mutt? Indiana Jones 5 news

Looks like Georgey boy may have actually listened to the Indy fans for once.

“Indiana Jones is Indiana Jones. Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones,” Lucas said, dismissively adding about a character he helped create that, “If it was Mutt Williams it would be ‘Mutt Williams and the Search for Elvis’ or something.”

..says Lucas in THIS INTERVIEW over at MTV. In the piece, Lucas also says he's working to find something for Indy & Co. to pursue in a fifth installment.
