Here are a few photos that show a different side to Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor's Gamer starring Gerard Butler.

Gamer is the film where video game players control real people in a fight to the death.
The colourfully clad people are part of Society. This is a real-life version of The Sims in the film. Amber Valletta who plays Angie, is the main character in these shots.

Gamer - Trailer for Gerard Butler's video game film

Gerard Butler's new film has had a few title changes. First it was Game, then Citizen Game and now Gamer. I personally preferred Game, but what do I know.

Set in a future-world where humans can control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online gaming environments, a star player named Kable (Gerard Butler) from a game called "Slayers" looks to regain his freedom and escape the prison while taking down the game's twisted mastermind (Michael C. Hall).

Gerard Butler becomes Citizen Game

This one totally passed me by but a few days ago Lionsgate has announced through Twitter that Gerard Butler’s movie Game is retitled Citizen Game:

Apparantly it is all to help market the movie, but I think it is a pretty naff rename. Citizen Game - Citizen Kane. It is a crappy pun and I had to double check that it wasn't an April Fool thing.

Teaser Trailer noticed the name change.

"Set in the near-future, mind-control technology has taken society by storm and a multiplayer on-line game called 'Slayers' allows humans control other humans in mass-scale. Simon controls Kable (Gerard Butler) the on-line champion of the game, and with his every move tracked by millions, his ultimate challenge becomes regaining his identity and independence by defeating the game's mastermind (Hall) through launching an attack on the system that has imprisoned him."

Game - Italian Trailer for Gerard Butler sci-fi gaming film

In Game Gerard Butler (300) plays Kable, a death row inmate who has become the champion of an online game called ‘Slayers’. The story takes place in a future where mind-control technology has become the norm and the game ‘Slayers’ provides humans the ability to control other humans on a mass scale. To those that run the game ‘Slayers’, Kable is nothing more than a human bot - a simulation. But to those who resist oppression, he is the key to overthrowing a high-tech system of societal slavery.

Currently the official release date for Game is 4th September 2009. However, this has been changed a few times before

50 Cent is no longer one of The Expendables

First is was Forest Whitaker, then it was 50 Cent who was down to play Hale Caeser in Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables. Now it has changed again. Stallone got in touch with Harry Knowles over at AICN with the update.

So... who is Hale Caesar?

First off - he's 6'2 & a half" and BIG. He's a former San Diego Charger. He made his screen debut with Arnold Schwarzeneggar in THE 6TH DAY. And his most recent film will be this summer's Arnie-less TERMINATOR SALVATION. He is TERRY CREWS. Not necessarily a big name, but a big man to take his place among other big men. As I said, Sly seems very enthusiastic about this fella and I look forward to seeing what Terry Crews has in store for us.

I think this is a much better choice than 50 Cent. Crews has been in Idiocracy, Get Smart, Everybody Hates Chris, Terminator Salvation and loads more. He's also due to star in Game with Gerard Butler - the first person shooter film where gamers control real people.

Do you think this is a better casting decision than 50 Cent was?

/film have a round up of the thoughts and reviews for Game which had an early screening recently. Game is the latest film from Neveldine/Taylor (Crank). It stars Gerard Butler, as a prisoner who is implanted with nano-technology which allows a video gamer to control him in a first-person shooter-like game called Slayers.

Collider: “if you want action, Game has it. It had some of the most entertaining and unique actions scenes I’ve seen in a while, and that’s coming from an ex-gamer. In addition to adding in some digitalized pixilation, we could see an on-screen pop up display for Kable that looked like a cross between Tony Stark’s HUD in Iron Man and Call of Duty. I found this exhilarating to watch, because it seemed like Neveldine and Taylor finally broke the bounds of the typical action scenes I’ve seen coming out of Hollywood so often. They might even rival Michael Bay for explosions!” … “While the action scenes were great, Game really felt a bit too long, like some unnecessary scenes out in the real world could be cut and it could be tightened down into a true non-stop action flick like Crank.”

Red User: “The film all around got an excellent response from the crowd. Most of them when asked by a showing of hands rated it as excellent. I especially liked the realism and pacing. The soundtrack also was rockin’ and there was plenty of well choreographed fight and stunt scenes. I don’t want to give anything away, but the game play action sequences were just outstanding.” “I’ll just say that this movie is going to blow people away. The cinematic choices were brilliant and covered a broad spectrum of looks for scenes of all types, from brutal action packed battle and fight scenes to original environments within the game world to the elegant mansion of the evil rich mastermind.
