Oscar Jaenada has joined The Losers

Some more casting news for the adaption of Andy Diggle and Jock's brilliant comic, The Losers.

Blackfilm.com have the news Oscar Jaenada (The Limits of Control, Che: Part Two) has got the role of Cougar.

Directing the film is Sylvain White. He directed Stomp The Yard and is due to direct Frank Miller's Ronin and Castlevania.

Losers centers around a Special Forces team, who are set up and betrayed by their enigmatic handler, Max, who soon discovers that you should never leave a bunch of black-ops commandos for dead. The Losers regroup for revenge, and to get their names off a pesky CIA death list. For issue after issue, they conducted covert operations against the CIA, and sought to uncover the plans and conspiracies of the powerful, secretive Max.

Previously I've mentioned the casting of Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, Supernatural) as the leader Clay, Idris Elba (Ultraviolet, Obsessed) is his second-in-command Roque, Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, Push) as Jensen, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek) is Aisha, and Columbus Short as Pooch.

Blackfilm also confirm the news that Jason Patric will be playing the role of the big bad Max.

It's all coming together for this film and if it stays true to the comic it should have some amazing action scenes.

Armored - Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, and Laurence Fishburne have a plan to make some money

A crew of officers at an armored transport security firm risk their lives when they embark on the ultimate heist….against their own company. Armed with a seemingly fool-proof plan, the men plan on making off with a fortune with harm to none. But when an unexpected witness interferes, the plan quickly unravels and all bets are off.

Starring Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Laurence Fishburne, Amaury Nolasco (who is currently filming The Rum Diary with Johnny Depp in Puerto Rico), Fred Ward, Skeet Ulrich, Columbus Short (who is down to star in the adaption of The Losers) and Milo Ventimiglia it certainly has got some big name action stars in there.

Always good to see Fred Ward. I loved him in Tremors and Remo: Unarmed and Dangerous (Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins if you live in the USA).

Armored (keep wanting to type Armoured) is directed by Nimród Antal who, not only sharing a name with a mutant killing robot from the X-Men comics, also made Vacancy.
Collider had the poster and photos and Trailer Addict had the trailer. Watching it this looks like it will be of the old school variety and there's nothing wrong with a bit of old school action now and again.

The Losers gain Columbus Short

Columbus Short told Blackfilm.com that he will be working with Sylvain White again on his latest film, 'The Losers,' an adaptation of a gritty DC-Vertigo comic book.

He will playing the role of Pooch. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is already attached to play Clay, the leader. Morgan is currently on screen as the Comedian in 'Watchmen.'

White had directed Short on 'Stomp The Yard' in 2007 and is slated to direct Frank Miller's 'Ronin' and 'Castlevania.'

The James Vanderbilt-scripted project is being financed by Dark Castle Entertainment with Dark Castle's Joel Silver, Weed Road's Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster producing. The series was first published by the DC Comics imprint Vertigo in the 1970s. Gregory Noveck, who oversees DC Comics film transformations, will be involved in a producing capacity

Lethal Weapon 5 is a definite go? I'm too old for this Shit and I'm probably the umpteenth site to use that

I mentioned a while ago that Lethal Weapon 5 was being written by the great Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). It was very much a rumour but looks like things are moving ahead with it after all. IGN talked with actor Columbus Short who said that he was up for a role in the sequel and that the film is on the fast track at Warner Brothers. Short might play Murtaugh's son and hints that indeed both Mel Gibson and Danny Glover will be back.

Is it good or bad news that they are making another Lethal Weapon movie? I really hope they don't try and introduce a younger pair to take over the franchise at a later date.
