Shatnerquake - All kinds of awesome

William Shatner? William Shatner. William Shatner!

It’s Shatner VS Shatners!

It’s the first ShatnerCon with William Shatner as the guest of honor! But after a failed terrorist attack by Campbellians, a crazy terrorist cult that worships Bruce Campbell, all of the characters ever played by William Shatner are suddenly sucked into our world. Their mission: hunt down and destroy the real William Shatner.

Featuring: Captain Kirk, TJ Hooker, Denny Crane, Rescue 911 Shatner, Singer Shatner, Shakespearean Shatner, Twilight Zone Shatner, Cartoon Kirk, Esperanto Shatner, Priceline Shatner, SNL Shatner, and – of course – William Shatner!

No costumed con-goer will be spared in their wave of destruction, no redshirt will make it out alive, and not even the Klingons will be able to stand up to a deranged Captain Kirk with a lightsaber. But these Shatner-clones are about to learn a hard lesson…that the real William Shatner doesn’t take crap from anybody. Not even himself.

It’s Shatnertastic!

Laughter Is Everything - Dark Knight Fan Film

Bryant Hodson, who made the Watchmen Page 5 film that I featured earlier, also made the above fan film featuring the Joker.

If it seems familiar that is because it is based on the Bruce Campbell Old Spice advert below (I also like this other advert Campbell did - the one where he sings Hungry Like the Wolf).

Judge Dredd concept art - Looks very nice

I mentioned back near the start of December that Rebellion where trying to get a new Judge Dredd film going. Well now it looks as if things are moving forward with this concept art found by io9.
This lovely concept art was done by the comic book artist Jock who has worked on 2000AD, The Losers, Green Arrow: Year One and Hellblazer. Looks mighty fine indeed and looks as if they will be sticking closer to the comic than Stallone's Dredd movie ever did.

Current suggestion over in the Forum as to who could play Dredd are Christian Bale, Jason Statham, Bruce Campbell (he has the chin), Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, The Rock and Billy Zane.

Running Time - Trailer for old Bruce Campbell movie. Looks cool

Running Time was filmed in black and white, in real time, and seemingly takes place in one continuous, fluid shot. It's a little like Hitchcock's "Rope," but it's on location! Carl (Bruce Campbell), an ex-con who sets out to rob the prison laundry system where he worked for 5 years (while in the pen), has spent ten years in prison planning the ultimate heist. Upon his release, he meets up with a high school buddy, who's made all the arrangements for the job, and rented him a hooker for his first encounter in a decade with a real girl. After picking up the safecracker and their getaway driver, they've got twenty minutes to pull off the perfect heist...but soon everything falls apart before Carl's eyes. He might still get the girl, though! Directed by Josh Becker.

Is Evil Dead 4 dead by dawn?

Filmstalker have the news:

The other day Bruce Campbell came out and spoke about the possibility, and was quite harsh about it. He's said pretty much the same thing before, but not with as much power.

"Look, let's cut to the chase because you keep dancing around it, if you're talking about Ash coming back again, Sam Raimi has the best perspective. He says, 'Look, I can go back and do Ash vs. whoever whenever I want. I can do that when I'm 70; I don't have to do that now. Right now I'm on a fast, fat groovy train in Hollywood.' And he's going to follow that, and he'll come back and to EVIL DEAD stuff when he's unemployed and living at the Old Director's Home"

That quote came from Toyfare through AITH and doesn't sound like there's a chance of it happening soon, if at all to be honest.

Then today we hear another point of view on the team, from the producer Rob Tapert. He's more interested in the musical version again, a 3D musical version no doubt, although he does reveal that Sam Raimi is still talking of a fourth film:

"There's a guy [producer Don Carmody] who wants to make a musical out of it, a 3-D musical based on the one [Evil Dead: The Musical] that ran off-Broadway...And I still think that that's the one I'd like to see greatly. Sam promises he's going to do Evil Dead IV, with Bruce Campbell starring in it [as Ash], at some point in time. I just hope Bruce is still alive."

Those comments through SciFi Wire.

It doesn't look good for Ash and a musical Evil Dead sounds pretty poor. What do you think of the news?

Spider-Man 4 & 5 shot back to back? Raimi and Maguire are in

Spider-Man 3 was a big disappointment to me. Emo Parker, the waste of Venom and it was all just a bit naff. Bruce Campbell was cool though and the Sandman looked good. They should have stuck with the Sandman and Vulture partnership which would have worked better and is so obvious when you see the set up of the end battle. They should have introduced the black suit near the end and not had Venom in the next movie.

I digress though. News on the street is that Sony have got Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi signed up for Spider-Man 4 and 5 (which may be shot back to back) Kirsten Dunst has yet to sign (I hope she doesn't as her whinyness bugged me).

No news on the who the bad guy will be, but the money is on the Lizard making an appearance as Dr Connor (the one armed teacher of Peter's) has been in the first 3 and so would be the logical choice - For those who don't know Doc Connor injects himself with a serum derived from lizards to try and regenerate his lost arm, only it turns him into a great big beastie lizard thing. However, there are loads more villains they can choose from. Mysterio could be great as his whole schtick is special effects. Electro would also be visually pleasing. Chameleon would also work well and could give a pretty good story as people think the real Spider-Man has turned to crime.

I personally think they will have a couple of villains in Spider-Man 4 (any two out of The Lizard, Kraven, Mysterio, Electro, Vulture, the Hobgoblin, Chameleon etc) and then have the Sinister Six in Spider-Man 5.

I personally hope they tie it in with the other Marvel movies (Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America etc), but as it is Sony and Marvel Studios they would have to come to some agreement for that to work.

Deadline Hollywood have lots more on this including the possible Venom spin-off. I say more action less lovey dovey emo crap.

Now who will Bruce Campbell be playing in the next one?

My Name is Bruce Trailer

This does look good. Bruce Campbell plays himself in a movie where a small town has a monster problem so the locals go get Bruce as they think he is just like the characters he plays in the movies.

Due out in October 2008.

Well hello Mister Fancypants - Evil Dead 4 news

Greatest actor in the World, Bruce Campbell, has been talking about the possibility of an Evil Dead 4 to MTV.

When asked by them about Sam Raimi's comment at the recent Comic Con that he would be up for making a fourth movie, Bruce said, “When he’s ready, I’m ready.”

However, he then followed it up with, “Nobody knows anything,” he said. “I mean if we were really smart [though], we’d go back to a handheld movie and shoot it in 16mm and find someplace in the middle of nowhere. And have a crew of 10 people. If we were smart.”

I really hope this pulls off as the Evil Dead movies are pure genius and so funny. What do you think?

The Random

Johnny Depp to be the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Tarantino goes with the Weinsteins and Universal Pictures to make Inglorious Bastards

Darren Aronofsky's Robocop movie to be rated R. Thank God is all I say! It will also be a reimagining of the character similar to Batman Begins

Sam Raimi at the recent comic con said the following, "I would love to work with Bruce again because I’d love to test those limits. I’d love to make another Evil Dead picture. And actually that’s in the wheelhouse. I’d like to work on it with my brother Ivan [Raimi] when he comes up next week.“ Aces as Army of Darkness is one of my all time faves.

James Franco (Spider-Man, Pineapple Express) is to play Allan Ginsberg in a biopic entitled Howl. I know Street Pete will be made up with that.
