In a story from Bloody-Disgusting, Rooney Mara is moving in to play Nancy Thompson in Warner Bros. and Platinum Dunes remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.The film is being directed by Samuel Bayer and starts shooting in May in Chicago.
Already cast in the film are Jackie Earle Haley (as Freddy Krueger), Kyle Gallner and Thomas Dekker.
In the 1984 Nightmare on Elm Street, Nancy was played by Heather Langenkamp.

When relatively unknown actors are cast in big budget remakes, what does it say about the picture? I can see two possibilities, any thoughts?
Still trying to make up my mind up this remake. the whole joy of the elm Street Franchise was the campy yet laughable horror. I am just afraid that it will get turned into gore central.
i've said this before...some films are perfect and should never be remade. how about coming up with new ideas? obviously, the film industry needs some new blood. the suits in charge have totally lost their grip.
