Public Enemies - The poster hits

Bank robberies, getaways, gangs…these words were all too familiar to American gangster John Dillinger in the 1930s. Coming in July 2009, you can check out Johnny Depp playing the notorious bank robber in Michael Mann's “Public Enemies,” also featuring Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard.

Finally, here is the poster for Public Enemies and it looks great. Thanks to Maria for sending me that. What do you think of the poster?

I love that style.

It is a great look.

Although the composition of the whole thing reminds me of another poster or picture. I can't think what it is though

I love it! Johnny is magnificent in 30s attire - a style which I could embrace if it wasn't for the fact that I don't do hats. I can't wait for Mann's scenery stealing shots at the expensive of the star-turns: take a look at Heat and Manhunter - exquisite!

good job, maria! i really like the look of this poster...the restricted use of color is so effective...kind of like burton, but not gothic. cool. finally we'll have a summer film for adults! no little ones climbing all over us spilling popcorn and whatnot...unless, of course, someone brings their kids. i'll shoot them. i swear i'll shoot them. anyone think bale will get a poster or is he having another temper tantrum already?

its very Keanu Reeveish. also it bears slight resemblance with the Lord of War dvd cover (nicolas cage).

good job but dont like the fact depp's name is on top of everything. should be in line with bale by now. they r just as gd/succesful.

sorry, but bale has a long way to go to reach depp's artistic level. the placement of the names is justified.

You can imagine Bale shouting "Where the F*** is my poster! Depp, get the F*** out of my face!" :)

I think it also reminds me of one of The Joker posters from The Dark Knight.

the perspective is off...makes depp look bigger than life...like a gangster should. i agree the poster looks vaguely familiar, but at least it's out.

Totally agree. Don't get me wrong I think it is a great poster.

I just get that way with many film posters these days. They often remind me of others and for something like a gangster film such as this I wouldn't be surprised if this is a homage to a poster from classic B&W gangster film

I love the way the text on the poster is pointing like an arrow to Depp's balls! :)
