Wolverine reshoots due to Deadpool

A couple of days ago news got out that Hugh Jackman and his crew had gone back for reshoots on the Wolverine film. This usually means that a film is in trouble and they are trying to get it sorted out. Happened with Hancock and many films before.

However, to try and smooth things out with the fans, Hugh Jackman issued an email explaining what was going on.

Hey everyone -

It’s Hugh Jackman, sending this note from freezing Vancouver. I have
read a lot of your online comments regarding the footage that we are currently
shooting and I share your passion for the Wolverine character and the movie - I
owe it all to you guys!

I wanted to reach out and let you know that due to scheduling conflicts
with certain cast members and location/weather considerations, we had to wait
until now to shoot a couple of scenes. Please rest assured that WOLVERINE will
be badass and hopefully meet all of your expectations. I am stoked by the
positive response to the teaser, which clearly reflects the tone and scope of
the film. If you like that, we’ve got much more in store!

In the meantime, here’s an exclusive shot of some characters you may
recognize…

Cheers,
Hugh

The exclusive shot he mentions is the one at the top of this article. Looks like Wolvie has cut the cheese judging from everyone's reaction!
One of the main reasons for the reshoots appears to have surfaced over on IESB - that reason appears to be the Merc with the Mouth, the one and only Deadpool.

We are told Ryan Reynolds was busy a guy in Vancouver during the extra
time the production spent there shooting some added footage for his Deadpool
character! Apparently most of the footage shot included Reynolds and Wolverine
himself, Hugh Jackman.

This isn't your mother's cameo...Deadpool is full on! Reynolds will
appear in the film even more than originally planned!

/film mention that Reynolds is reportedly obsessed with the character, hoping for a spin-off based on the success of Wolverine.

Now I am a huge fan of Deadpool. I've got most of his comics, got the cool little bust of him and he just works so well.
In the comics Deadpool was a soldier and went through the Weapon X system like Logan. Turned out he had terminal cancer and was given Logan's healing factor to cure it and make him a bad ass. However, it left him disfigured as the cancer ravaged his body and also left him a total nut-case (this madness in the comics is often shown via Deadpool's interior monologue and his breaking of the fourth wall when he speaks to the reader - would be great if they carried it through to the film version, by having him speak to camera or make references to knowing that he is in a film). None of the photos of Ryan Reynolds show any disfigurement but IESB mentions that CGI is being used on the character to show the scarring on his face, so that must happen at some point in the film.

On the one hand the reshoots on the Wolverine film do not bode well. Yet Jackman's email and the news that there could be more Deadpool make me feel a little better about the whole thing.

Do you want more Deadpool in the film? Will it detract from the whole Wolveriness that the origin movie should have?
