Man-Witch

Jack Black comedy Man-Witch looks like it's headed into production according to scribe's Josh Stolberg's official blog.

"It's looking like Man-Witch is a go at Warner Bros. I can't say much about it at this point because the casting hasn't been officially announced but it's looking really, really good" says Stolberg ("Good Luck Chuck," "Piranha 3D").

Black plays a schoolteacher who suddenly discovers he has witch-like abilities. Taken in by a coven, he is persuaded to attend a school for witches, only to discover that his classmates are all girls.

Todd Phillips ("Road Trip," "The Hangover") is down to direct.

Will the Green Lantern be Bradley Cooper?

There has been a lot of talk about who will be donning the Green and reciting the Green Lantern oath - Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Charlie Bartlett), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight), Jack Black (Year One), David Boreanaz (Buffy, Angel, Bones), Ryan Gosling (The Notebook), Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity) to name but a few (my favourite would be Fillion).

Now another name has been thrown into the wilds of the internet and that name is Bradley Cooper. You may not know the name but you will have seen his face - Alias, The Hangover, Failure to Launch, Yes Man, He's Just Not That Into You, and The Midnight Meat Train.

He has only been a lead in the last one, which was a horror, and all the rest have been mainly comedy roles so it is a bit of a surprise that he has been included to play Hal Jordan.

Here is what Drew McWeeney a.k.a. Moriarty on AICN, has to say about Cooper.
HitFix can exclusively report that Bradley Cooper is now one of the guys most likely to don the suit and slip on the power ring as The Green Lantern for director Martin Campbell.

Let's be clear: they have not hired him yet. But the process is far enough along that this is more than just a meeting or some spot on a wish list. Keep in mind that Campbell likes to see a lot of people when he's casting... and even when he's screen-testing, he seems willing to explore as many options as possible... but with the film set to shoot later this summer, they've got to start making their choices, and now's the time to put people in front of the camera and see who really works in the suit.

As the quote says Bradley is "one of the guys" so nothing has been decided. I personally just don't see him as Earth's Green Lantern, but he can act.

Would Bradley make a good Green Lantern? If not him who would you like to see play the part?

Who ya gonna call? Not Judd Apatow.

A few days ago the internet was full of the news that Judd Apatow was going to produce the new Ghostbusters film.

Well looks like it is not true. The LA Times made a couple of calls to the men in suits over at Sony to learn that Apatow has nothing to do with the movie.

"It's not true," says Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures. "We have some great new writers working on a new script, but Judd isn't involved. Judging from the frenzy on the Internet, there still seems to be plenty of interest in the idea of doing another film, so we're certainly taking that as a good sign."

The studio recently hired the writing team of Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg (best known for their work on "The Office") to tackle a new script. As it turns out, most of the original films' creative team are involved as informal consultants on the new project, which would have the original Ghostbusters passing the torch to a new generation.

So why all those Internet posts about Judd Apatow? Some of it is probably just wishful thinking -- after all, Apatow's comic versatility makes him today's equivalent of Reitman, who was the reigning comedy producer-director of his era. But it's also likely that the web gumshoes were confused by the fact that Apatow is producing another Stupnitsky and Eisenberg-penned project, "The Year One," a Harold Ramis-directed adventure comedy that Sony is releasing in June starring Jack Black and Michael Cera. This somehow led to all sorts of speculation that the new GhostBusters project would be populated with actors from the Apatow stock company, which isn't a bad idea, but is total fiction at this stage.

Anne Hathaway and Jack Black to star in Stephen Chow's superhero comedy

Stephen Chow, whose Kung Fu Hustle was the highest grossing foreign-language film in the U.S. in 2005, will write and direct a Hollywood comedy starring himself and American actor Jack Black, the Oriental Morning Post reported on Tuesday, citing Wei Dasen, a representative from Chow's company.

In December, Stephen Chow resigned as director and co-star of a Hollywood remake of Bruce Lee's 1966 TV series The Green Hornet. The movie was supposed to be Chow's first Hollywood appearance. He told the media the reason for his resignation was he was busy arranging other projects.

Wei from Chow's company says the actor-director is currently writing the screenplay for the new film. "It will be about a superhero, action-packed, special effects-rich, and of course funny."

Anne Hathaway (Get Smart, Rachel Getting Married) is likely to star in the unnamed film, according to Wei.

Chinese media cited sources close to Chow as saying that the film will be similar in style to Kung Fu Hustle.

Master of Space and Time - Michel Gondry to direct Jack Black and Dave Chappelle

Not heard of Master of Space and Time until now but came across it while looking into the previous Jack Black story. I am always up for a new Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep) film. Even if the film is not that good story wise there is always some amazing visual trick to be seen that requires repeat viewing.

It is based on the 1984 novel by Rudy Rucker and is being adapted by Daniel Clowes who wrote the comic books Ghost World and David Boring amongst others. Clowes has been attached to write a screenplay based on the true story of three boys who made a shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark over the course of 7 years. The project is currently untitled.

"Master of Space Time is Rudy Rucker's take on the ultimate power fantasy. Computer programmer Joe Fletcher and eccentric inventor Harry Gerber play with time, certainty, and causality to attain space-time mastery sufficient enough to alter the very fabric of reality at will. They open a multi- dimensional doorway and step through to a 'looking-glass' world ruled by a giant brain, 'Gary Herber,' who has the instincts of a televangelist and who can clone himself. The Herber-brain clones attach symbiotically to humans, who begin acting like oversexed Republicans. The pair, assisted by Herber's girlfriend Sondra Tupperware, destroy the brain and return to this dimension, were they discover that one of the clones has crossed over as well. "

Just checked Wikipedia and that states, "Master of Space and Time is a 1984 novel by Rudy Rucker that centers on an inventor, Harry Gerber, who discovers a way to create his own tailor-made universe.

The novel has also been adapted and is being produced for DreamWorks Pictures by writer Daniel Clowes. Director Michel Gondry, who directed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep announced that he is no longer set to direct the project."

As it is Wikipedia I'm not sure how true the Michel Gondry part is. Can anyone else shed any light on it?

What do you think of the story? Has anyone read the Rudy Rucker novel?

Jack Black in Bourne spoof

Now don't get me wrong. I'm a fan of Jack Black's comedy gig. I find him funny and a pretty good actor. I also dig Tenacious D and have seen the D in concert where they rocked my socks of as it were. However, this just leaves me feeling a bit cold inside at the sheer naffness of it all.

Jack Black and "Kung Fu Panda" writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger are re-teaming for an untitled live-action action comedy at Universal Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.

Described as a comedic take on "The Bourne Identity", the story sees Black as an American who finds himself washed up the shores of Cuba with no idea of who he is and how he got there. He comes to the conclusion that he must be a superspy, though in reality he is far from one.

You can see the hilarious consequences this will bring. It all seems a little forced and unoriginal in my opinion. It has shades of the pretty good Bill Murray movie, The Man Who Knew Too Little, and a whole sprinkling of Code Name: The Cleaner which IMDB describes as, "Cedric the Entertainer plays Jake, a seemingly regular guy who has no idea who he is after being hit over the head by mysterious assailants; when he finds himself entangled in a government conspiracy, Jake and his pursuers become convinced that he is an undercover agent."

Does that sound like a certain Jack Black news story that you've only just read? What do you think of the Jack Black Bourne movie idea? Can you see it hitting the screens? How do you think the plot will develop?
