X-Men Origins: Wolverine - The Weapon XI mystery cleared up
Previously on Live for Films: The X-Men Origins: Wolverine Trailer was released and we saw a bit more of Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool. There was also a bald mutant guy with a claw on each hand, eye beams and no mouth. In my previous post I said this was Weapon XI played by Scott Adkins so it wouldn't be Deadpool. I thought he had all the mutant powers grafted onto him. I was half right.Topless Robot, via their new inside source, have cleared this up and this is what their source told them about Weapon XI and some other mutants we may see (Spoilers Ahead).
• Ryan Reynolds shows up for 10 minutes in the beginning of the film. He's part of Stryker's team, and his mutant ability is mostly being a badass with swords, cutting bullets and the like. He is called Wade Wilson during this period.I think it sucks that Ryan Reynolds doesn't get to be the wisecracking Merc with a Mouth we know and love. However, it could be a good setup for a Deadpool film. I am glad that it will be Wolverine's film and not loads of people fighting for time on screen.
• Stryker's big plan (or one of 'em) is to make Weapon XI, a mutant with a shit-ton of mutant powers.
• Stryker uses Wilson's body as the mutant power receptacle, and because of the scarring (I'm not sure whether that's from a previous fight, or as a result of all the mutant powers getting packed into him), Weapon XI is played by Scott Adkins. Weapon XI appears for about ten minutes near the film's end, and has the claws seen above (a la Wolverine), Cyclops' optic blast, Wraith's teleportation ability, and Wolverine's healing factor, too. Also, his mouth is indeed sewn shut.
• Just like Weapon X is given the name "Wolverine," Weapon XI is given the name "Deadpool."
Apparently, there's a cameo by a certain Professor at the end of the movie. When Stryker's compound is falling apart and Wolverine is leading young Emma Frost and Cyclops out of the building, Cyclops suddenly knows the way out. When they get to the door, standing there -- oh yes, standing -- is Charles Xavier, controlling wee Cyclops' mind like he'll be doing several billion more times in the future. He's apparently not played by Patrick Stewart, by the way. Weird.
Also: Despite what the trailer would have you believe, most of the other mutants are only cameos as well. Gambit only has about 10 minutes of screentime, for instance. Just like the Marvel Universe, it's Wolverine's show.
Deadpool fans what do you think of the news?

Lifeforce - Poster. Where's the sexy naked space vampire?
Lifeforce. Ah yes. Naked space vampire lady going around London sucking the life out of people and turning them into space vampires. A sci-fi horror classic by Tobe Hooper and I think Patrick Stewart had a small part in it.This poster was made by Jacob Van Loon, for a Terror Tuesday screening of Lifeforce at the Alamo Drafthouse in Texas. It's a 19" x 25.5" screenprint with blue glow in the dark inks! Printed at D&L in Seattle. Available from MondoTees.

Discuss: Batman 3 rumours - Who could play the bad guys?
Bearing in mind Christopher Nolan has not yet signed up for the third Batman film, no story has been decided, no script has been written, no casting has been made and no characters have been chosen, the old casting rumours keep on coming.Remember all of this is basically the internet throwing up whatever it can think of, but it does get the old brain juices flowing.
Nolan has made a point of saying he wouldn't have any super powers in his Batman films so people have been saying things will stay realistic. However Nolan did set up the fact that things keep escalating once the Batman hit the scene so it could go a little madder now that the Joker and Two-Face have appeared in Gotham. The great thing about Batman's bad guys is that most of them have no powers they are just disfigured freaks.
The Riddler keeps getting mentioned and we have had Johnny Depp mentioned for that. Now I have heard that Eddie Murphy could play him, as Axel Foley said "Get the fuck out of here!" springs to mind with that rumour. If they do use The Riddler I hope they have him as a buttoned up obsessive kind of criminal who out thinks the Bat. Depp would be cool in the part, but Crispin Glover could bring a weirdness to the part. Guy Ritchie could be another interesting choice and his work with Nolan on Memento shows he can play the obsessive rather well.
Catwoman is another one that many people think will be in the next film. If she is I'd like to see her as the thief she is and not as the big bad. Maybe a cameo or just in the background. Although if they do use her she'll probably end up as the love interest in the film. Rumours as to who would play her have included Cher, Maggie Gyllenhall, Angelina Jolie and most recently Rachel Weisz. Basically, any actress people can think of but I would like to see Carla Gugino take the part of Selina Kyle.
The Penguin. In the comics he has recently been portrayed as an arms dealer, criminal kingpin and a go to kind of guy for illegal goods. All of these would be okay for the next film and again, he wouldn't necessarily have to be the main villian. Philip Seymour Hoffman is the main rumour for this one and I can't really think of anyone better for the part.
The Ventriloquist. Not one of the most well known of Batman's adversaries but a good one none the less. Like many of the villains in Gotham he has major mental problems. Basically it is an old bloke with a dummy called Scarface. The old bloke is totally unassuming and the dummy is the one running things and treated as if he is a real person. Anthony Hopkins would be great in the role and he has previous experience with ventriloquist dummies controlling people in the film Magic.
Ice Man. Now we are getting into the realms of the super power although his ice gun could be explained as advance technology. Maybe stolen from Wayne's company or he was working on it for Wayne when the accident happened. Only person I can see in this part is Patrick Stewart who would be amazing.
Robin. I think there would be a massive outpouring of rage if it was announced that Robin was to be in the next film which is a shame. If done right Robin is a great character and works really well. Unfortunately the memories of Robin in the old TV series reins supreme. Shia Labeouf is the one rumoured for this part but they are missing the point on the old rumour mill. Robin should only be a young teenager or slightly younger, who loses his parents and is taken under Bruce's wing and is eventually adopted by him as his son. Maybe the kid out of The Spiderwick Chronicles would be good in the role.
There are many other characters in the Batverse - Bane, Black Mask, Poison Ivy, Firefly, Clayface, Harley Quinn to name a few more so Christopher Nolan will be spoilt for choice when he eventually sits down to write the next film.
Everything above is just a rumour. Let me know who you would want to see in the next Batman film and who could play them.

Patrick Stewart to be in next series of Dr Who. David Morrisey will be the Other Doctor in the Christmas Special
According to a report in the UK’s Daily Star, Stewart has reportedly been offered the role of the Meddling Monk, a Time Lord once featured on the series. Apparently the BBC has offered him the role and are willing to wait for Stewart's schedule to clear so it may happen for one of the 2009 specials or the new season beginning in 2010.British fans have been treated to David Tennant, the current Doctor, and Stewart, formerly known as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, performing Hamlet together. The two have become fast friends and Stewart is an avowed fan of the series.
The Monk was introduced as someone who encountered the first Doctor, back in the early 1960s. As portrayed by Peter Butterworth, he was a comical fellow and appeared in two stories, “The Time Meddler” and “The Daleks’ Master”. The character disappeared from screen but has been used in other media through the years.
Velile Tshabalala has revealed several details about her 'companion' character in the forthcoming Doctor Who Christmas special 'The Next Doctor'. Speaking to the West Sussex Gazette, the former Tittybangbang and Kerching! actress stated that Rosita is "an East Londoner, very Cockney". She revealed that Rosita "is the assistant to the other Doctor", played by David Morrissey, "but as the episode goes on she starts helping The Doctor", as played by David Tennant.
