Well almost. Some people who saw it did a "sweded" version of it. Excellent stuff.
You can see some screenshots from the actual footage here.

Iron Man 2 has finished filming
Good news for fans of old shellhead. Production on Iron Man 2’s principal photography has wrapped on Saturday, after 72 days of shooting.Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige issued a statement to Marvel.com:
Shooting ‘Iron Man 2′ was a fantastic experience and we couldn’t be happier. Although there were many challenges in making this film, having Jon Favreau, Robert Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow and almost the entire crew from the first film back on board, allowed us to hit the ground running as everyone was instantly familiar with each other from day one. This dynamic allowed us to get done what we needed on a day to day basis and was a big factor in why we finished slightly ahead of schedule. Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell and especially Don Cheadle all stepped right in and meshed well with our returning cast. From our experience on the first film, we learned what works and doesn’t work in terms of shooting practical versus CGI especially with the Iron Man suit. This enabled us to be much more efficient in many departments, making it a much smoother experience.” … “The next step for us is beginning the post production process which is extensive and filled with its own set of challenges. It is also a very exciting time because you get to see all the hard work from the hundreds of cast and crew members begin to come to life. We’ve only seen a smattering of photos from the shoot so no doubt there will be many more over the next few months. I also wonder what Jon Favreau will unveil at the forthcoming Comic Con this year. Personally, I am still itching to see the War Machine armour that is meant to be in the sequel.
What are you looking forward to seeing in Iron Man 2? Do you think there will be a glimpse of the mysterious Mandarin? Maybe Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer is working for him?

Iron Man 2 - a better look at Black Widow and is Gwyneth Paltrow getting a suit?
This morning I posted the blurry photos of Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow in Iron Man 2. Now I have the much better versions from EW.com. The costume does seem spot on from the comic, but still not sure about Johansson as Natasha.
The photo below (via Topless Robot) shows Gwyneth Paltrow who plays Pepper Potts. Obviously there is a bit of Iron Man tech going on there, but not sure if it is simply for the photo or whether Potts gets a suit or an implant as she has recently had in the comic.
Still it is all good stuff from the house of Iron Man 2. Can't wait to see it.What do you think of Johansson as Black Widow?

King Lear is dead...Long live King Lear

A Hollywood adaptation of Shakespearean tragedy King Lear has been cancelled after reportedly falling victim to the current global economic crisis.
The film was due to star Sir Anthony Hopkins in the title role alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Keira Knightly and Naomi Watts as the monarch's three daughters.
The $36 million (£25 million) production was announced at last year's Cannes Film Festival in France but has now been scrapped.
The decision was reportedly made after movie bosses found it difficult to secure the required investment.
A spokeswoman for Ruby Films, the production company behind the film, says, "Ruby are no longer doing it - the film will no longer go ahead. It has not really been announced."
The move now clears the way for a rival production from director Michael Radford, starring Al Pacino, which will still go ahead.
Who would you rather see as King Lear? Pacino or Hopkins?

Jeff Bridges brilliant photos from the set of Iron Man

I posted some of these back at the start of October in an interview with the Dude about Tr2n, but First Showing have come across a few more over at Jeff Bridges' own site. They are absolutely stunning photos from the set of Iron Man and Stan Winston's workshop. Apparantly Jeff takes some on every film he works on and then does albums for the cast and crew. Lots of photos of Robert Downey Jr and Jon Favreau as well.

I have a big coffee book collection of some of his photos that the wife got me and it is fantastic. I so want a Widelux camera. Have a look at these photos then go on over to his site and check out the rest.

Iron Man 2 news - War Machine, Mandarin,

Paramount pulled out no stops for the Iron Man DVD launch this week with Jon Favreau sitting down with a major contingent of online press to talk about plans for the sequel and beyond. Amongst the facts gleaned:
- Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Terrence Howard are all set to reprise their roles.
- The "Demon in a Bottle" (Stark battles his alcohol addiction) storyline, if included, will form the basis of the third film and not the immediate sequel.
- Rhodey (Terrence Howard) may become 'War Machine' in the next one with the armor being developed for the character. (the picture above is some fan made version of the War Maching armour)
- Iron Man's armor may also be updated for the next film.
- There's hope to include IMAX 3D sequences in the sequel depending upon budgeting concerns.
- Favreau sees 'The Mandarin', the Asian crimelord arch-nemesis from the comics, as this film series equivalent of the Emperor from the original "Star Wars" trilogy. He'll likely be in the background more visibly in the first sequel but won't show up in full until a third or fourth film.
- The reason for the delay is that Favreau is trying to avoid over-exposing the character, and figuring out how to fit his mystical elements into a real world context.
- Favreau does intend to include background links to the likes of Hulk and Captain America in the sequel, but finds Thor a little difficult to do so.
- Justin Theroux and Favreau are at work developing the story right now.
- Favreau's Happy Hogan character will be involved more extensively.
