Who ya gonna call? Not Judd Apatow.

Well looks like it is not true. The LA Times made a couple of calls to the men in suits over at Sony to learn that Apatow has nothing to do with the movie.
"It's not true," says Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures. "We have some great new writers working on a new script, but Judd isn't involved. Judging from the frenzy on the Internet, there still seems to be plenty of interest in the idea of doing another film, so we're certainly taking that as a good sign."
The studio recently hired the writing team of Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg (best known for their work on "The Office") to tackle a new script. As it turns out, most of the original films' creative team are involved as informal consultants on the new project, which would have the original Ghostbusters passing the torch to a new generation.
So why all those Internet posts about Judd Apatow? Some of it is probably just wishful thinking -- after all, Apatow's comic versatility makes him today's equivalent of Reitman, who was the reigning comedy producer-director of his era. But it's also likely that the web gumshoes were confused by the fact that Apatow is producing another Stupnitsky and Eisenberg-penned project, "The Year One," a Harold Ramis-directed adventure comedy that Sony is releasing in June starring Jack Black and Michael Cera. This somehow led to all sorts of speculation that the new GhostBusters project would be populated with actors from the Apatow stock company, which isn't a bad idea, but is total fiction at this stage.

Ghost Rider sequel saddles up

Quite surprising though as the first film sucked big time. Such a shame as the comic book was great (I was from the Danny Ketch era) and the new series is getting great reviews.
Hopefully they'll learn from the mistakes made on the first one and it won't seem so studio bound. Would be great if Marvel Studios had it so they could mix it up with Iron Man, Hulk and the Avengers.
What story arc from the Ghost Rider comics would you like to see in the sequel?

Zombieland - Buddy zombie comedy starring Woody Harrelson

Taking its cue from Shaun of the Dead, another buddy zombie comedy is in the works, titled Zombieland. This one will star Woody Harrelson and little known actor Jesse Eisenberg (who just finished Adventureland for Greg Mottola) as a pair of mismatched survivors who find friendship and redemption in a world overrun by zombies. Eisenberg is in negotiations to play Flagstaff, a terrified shut-in whose cowardice makes him an expert at surviving the zombies but who is forced out of his shell to join the band of survivors. First-time feature filmmaker Ruben Fleischer is directing a script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (creators of "The Joe Schmo Show") for Columbia Pictures to distribute.
Sounds pretty good and Woody Harrelson is a good bloke to have in a movie. The title, to me, suggests that it could be set in a theme park. Anyone else got any info on this?

Mark Millar's War Heroes to be Moviefied

“War Heroes” is set in a dystopian future where the American Empire has bankrupted itself on ceaseless military conflicts, and World War III will be fought with super-powered G.I.s. In the story, a group of these super soldiers employ the drugs that give them powers to pursue criminal ends.
No writer or director is currently attached to the project.

Shot from Ghost Rider used in The International trailer
This from /film - The same exact shot from Ghost Rider, was used in the new trailer for The International. Both films are produced by Columbia Pictures / Sony, so they obviously own the rights to the footage. In the Ghost Rider clip, which can be seen here, the car explodes as Ghost Rider rides by the car on his bike. In the International trailer, the Ghost Rider CG is absent, and the clip is shown right after someone enters something into an ATM machine.
First Showing also think some footage is from Black Hawk Down - Tom Tykwer, who directed The International, is a European filmmaker. He's got a lot of style in his films and I bet this really doesn't have as much explosive action as the studio wants. So to beef up the marketing and capture the attention of the Michael Bay-hungry audiences of America, they threw in an exploding car and some extra helicopters. Yep, that's how our society works. From the trailer for The International, the exploding car can be found at 0:22, while the helicopters (that I think are from Black Hawk Down) are at 0:51.
The top image is the one from Ghost Rider, the one below is from The International.

The International stars Clive Owen and Naomi Watts. An Interpol agent (Owen) attempts to expose a high-profile financial institution's role in an international arms dealing ring. Oh and it also stars Remy Auberjonois who is the son of Rene Auberjonois who was Odo in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine!
