Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman. Is his rap thing for real?

Remember when Joaquin Phoenix said he quit acting to go into the music biz?

Since then he has turned up at various award ceremonies and TV shows looking bigger, beardier and saying he is going to become a rap star. Rumour has it that it is all a big spoof kind of thing as he is apparantly being filmed for a documentary.

Here he is on David Letterman recently. He's acting all weird and out there and does all seem to be an act. What do you reckon?

Here he is rapping.

Here he is falling off stage.

judging by Joaquin's appearance on the Letterman show, he might be going through an identity crisis
