The Random - Emma Watson & Marilyn Manson, Bridget Jones, Avon Man, Green Hornet, Hack/Slash, Scream 4

The Sun have the rumour that Emma Watson (Harry Potter) is to play a princess in a film from rock star turned writer\director Marilyn Manson which will be based on the traditional story of Cinderella.

Working Title is developing a third installment in the Bridget Jones film series reports Variety.
The third Jones will see Zellweger reprise her role as a British publishing executive struggling to find love. The story will likely be based on author Helen Fielding's weekly newspaper columns from 2005 which has Bridget, now in her 40s, attempting to have a baby before it's too late.

20th Century Fox has acquired the comedy pitch Avon Man, from Hitch writer Kevin Bisch, and has attached Hugh Jackman to star.According to Variety, Jackman and Seed Prods. partner John Palermo will produce, along with Gary Foster at Krasnoff Foster Entertainment.The story follows men laid off from an auto dealership. One is reluctantly recruited into becoming an Avon salesman, and while the experience is initially emasculating, he uses his charm and good looks to become a top seller. The comedy takes on a Full Monty vibe when the car salesman sets out to save his financially strapped family and town by conscripting his buddies into the makeup business to win a regional contest.

Stephen Chow has bowed out of Sony's The Green Hornet, leaving the Columbia Pictures project to search for a new Kato, the sidekick of playboy-turned-vigilante Brit Reid, which is played by Seth Rogen. According to Variety, sources said Chow left on amicable terms and had several other projects he wanted to pursue that didn't fit with "Hornet's" production schedule. Michel Gondry is directing the film. Chow had initially signed on to direct the film as well, but then opted just to play Kato, the role Bruce Lee took in the original 1960s TV show.

The Hack/Slash comic-book film project is finally getting off the ground. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fredrik Bond has signed on to direct it. The film is based off the comic book created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Casselli, which revolves around Cassie Hack, who symbolizes the one woman that survives at the end of most horror films, but has become much more than that. Not only has Hack survived, but she has transformed into a hunter of the supernatural serial killers who plague the world. The script was written by Justin Marks and the film, now with a director firmly in place after many had come and gone, is eyeing a winter start date for production.

According to E! Online, both Courteney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette will be returning for Scream 4. "We're going to be doing Scream 4," David Arquette told the site. "Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct." Neve Campbell was said to turn down a chance to reprise her role in the sequel, but Arquette added, "I hope Neve does it. I really hope so."

Dark Castle have The Nye Incidents - The truth is out there

Dark Castle, the Warner Bros.-based horror label, has picked up rights to Devil's Due graphic novel The Nye Incidents, from sci-fi and horror novelist Whitley Strieber and Craig Spector. Dark Castle are the people that brought you House on Haunted Hill, Thir13en Ghosts, Ghost Ship, Gothika, and The Reaping.

Inspired by true events, the comic follows the exploits of Lynn Devlin. Lynn is a medical examiner who thinks she has seen everything Nye County has to throw at her. She copes with methodical, rational logic. But when a grotesque murder of a supposed alien abductee occurs that cannot be solved with her scalpel and microscope, Lynn finds her detachment is shattered, and her dreams haunted by large dark, oval-shaped eyes. Now, only one thing is certain: There's a killer loose in the alien abductee community… human or otherwise.

No scribe has yet been hired to pen the script. Todd Lincoln will direct.

Strieber is best known for "The Wolfen" (that was a great film) and "The Hunger," which were adapted into pics in the 1980s, as well as alien abduction tale "Communion." "The Coming Global Superstorm," a book he co-wrote with Art Bell, inspired Fox's tentpole "The Day After Tomorrow."

In their book, Spector said he focused on forensic aspects, setting up the question whether a serial killer was imitating aliens or vice versa. UFO researcher Dr. Roger Leir joined the program for a segment and noted that in the New Jersey cases, a medical professional told him the men were cut in a style similar to the cattle mutilations, with large amounts of hemoglobin found on the edges of the wounds. He also discussed the 'Chupa chupa' UFO attacks in Brazil, which took place in 1977.

Lincoln, who had previously been attached to a remake of "The Fly" at Fox Searchlight, will also serve as a producer on "Nye." He is attached to helm "Hack/Slash" for Rogue.

Eve - Finds out her Dad was serial killer and so decides to kill 'em all

This sounds like a pretty cool concept - a bit of Wanted and a whole heap of Hack / Slash which are both excellent sources to riff off. I think the poster for Eve is a great design and does make me want to see more of it.

After discovering her father was the deadliest serial killer of all time, Evelyn (Elaine Hendrix) makes the decision to track down every psycho she can get her hands on. But these are no ordinary killers, they have supernatural advantages to them - something she must learn to adapt to. She also must learn as to why they are gathering in this city and what their evil intentions are while having to reconcile with her own past.

From Aspect Films, Eve is Directed by Brian Metcalf. Starring Elaine Hendrix and Jordan Matthews.

Should be a fun film to watch, but I really want to see a Hack/Slash film as I love that comic.

Re-Animator remake will star Ezra Godden, Elisha Cuthbert and Jeffrey Coombs.

Horror-Movies have dug up an interview that producers Brian Yuzna (the original Re-Animator) and Ray Haboush (The Last House of the Left) had with a spanish magazine called Fotogramas.

They confirm that they are going ahead with the remake of Re-Animator and it will be shot entirely in Spain and will start as early as next summer.

Yuzna also confirms that this is not a new chapter in the Re-Animator saga, but a remake of the first one which follows a dedicated medical student and his girlfriend who work on reanimating dead tissue. Then one day a young gent by the name of Herbert West arrives on the scene with a peculiar formula that they try. Needless to say things happen that shouldn't and hilarious consequences ensue. By hilarious I mean gore, violence and undead things. As you probably know it is based on a H. P. Lovecraft tale.

Jeffrey Coombs, who played the lead in the original, will have a small part in the remake according to Yuzna, however he won't be reprising his role as Doctor Herbert West. Instead it will go to Ezra Godden, who has done some TV mainly but also starred in Daggon. Co-starring as his gf / fiancee will be Elisha Cuthbert. No word on the rest of the cast at this time though.

All in all, I think this will be worth watching. The original was great but I think a straight remake won't be too bad, plus todays effects should make it even more gruesome than the original. I also think that shooting it in Spain may give it a nice look to the finished film. Not too sure of the casting though. I know nothing about Godden so he may be great, but Elisha Cuthbert hasn't really done anything spectacular. However, Jeffrey Coombs is going to be in it so that's the main thing sorted.

Green Arrow: Supermax - Justin Marks talks about that and Hack/Slash

The self-proclaimed screenwriter of “all things geeky,” Justin Marks stopped by the CBR Boat Show at Comic-Con International in San Diego to talk about his numerous film projects. In this exclusive on-camera interview, Marks discusses with CBR Executive Producer Jonah Weiland the status of “Hack/Slash,” the forthcoming live-action adaptation of Tim Seeley’s hit Devil’s Due horror-comedy series about Cassie Hack, a hero Marks describes as a “motherfucking ass-kicking bitch” with “the heart and soul of a teenage girl.”

Marks, who’s also involved with big-screen versions of Voltron, He-Man and Street Fighter (“my film resume looks like a yard sale in 1991”) also updates fans on “Green Arrow: Escape From Super Max,” which he’s working on with “Batman Begins” co-writer David S. Goyer.

Hack/Slash Comic to be a Film

As well as being heavily into films I am also a massive comic book fan. Ask anyone who knows me and they'll no doubt say something like, "Yes he is", "Christ he never shuts up about them", or "please don't mention his name it makes me want to vomit on puppies".

It is therefore, with some embarrassment, that I have to admit that I had not heard of the Hack/Slash series by Tim Seeley until recently. However, having heard about it and thinking it sounded pretty cool I caught up with as many issues as I could find and enjoyed every single one. The reason I'm mentioning it now is that it is apparently being turned into a movie for a 2009 release. If done well it should be one to watch.

Okay, for those not in the know, the story follows the adventures of Cassie Hack and her hunt for the undead creatures known as Slashers. These are basically twisted individuals who may have been serial killers back in the day. They were then caught and killed but were reborn as Slashers to carry on their dastardly work. Basically, people like Freddy Kreuger, Jason, Chuckie, etc (infact many of these movie icons crop up in the comic book). Cassie was picked on as her kid so her Mum killed the school kids who did this and became known as The Lunch Lady. When the police came for her she killed herself and was reborn as a Slasher. Cassie found out about this and killed her resurrected mum before heading out into the big wide world and he quest to kill all known Slashers. All well and suitably twisted. She's joined on her quest by the hulking, disfigured, Vlad who wears a gas mask to hide his face and he's very good with a knife.

The comic from Devil's Due Publishing itself is very funny, bizarre and messed up. Well worth picking up if you can. Turning it into a movie should result in some celluloid gold spattered in blood. I shall keep you posted on its development as and when I find out anything new.
