Who is the Pumpkin King in Halloween 2

Any idea who or what this chap is in Rob Zombie's Halloween 2? Seems a bit out of keeping for the style of the first Halloween film. Is it Michael Myer's vision of those he kills or is it just a dude with a pumpkin on his head?

UPDATED: New Photo of Michael Myers from Halloween 2

This image from Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 is a preview of a film clip that will air this Sunday on MTV.

UPDATE: Thanks to Graham Linehan for his rather succinct post on Twitter linking to this post:
May I present the least exciting/interesting/valuable blog post of the week. http://bit.ly/DSbvh
It did make me chuckle and nice to know the writter of the excellent Father Ted, Big Train and The IT Crowd has spent a little time looking at the site. Plus he has met Alan Moore which is just all kinds of cool.

More photos of Tyler Mane as Michael Myers and the teaser trailer for H2. Plus lots more banal things!

Dark Mirror - strange things on the other side of the mirror

First there was Mirrors starring Kiefer Sutherland (which was a remake of an Asian horror film), then there was The Broken starring Lena Headey, now another alternate dimension with mirrors involved film is on it's way to creep you out.

Dark Mirror is an indie film by Pablo Proenza and Quiet Earth found the new trailer that I have posted below.

It does seem to be going over a lot of similar ground that we have seen in a few other movies, but I must admit I do like the bit at the start if the trailer when the lead, Lisa Vidal, is talking about the other doorway in the mirror. There is also a blink and you'll miss it appearance of Daeg Faerch, who played the young Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's Halloween. It also stars David Chisum and Joshua Pelegrin.

A photographer moves her family into a strange old house, where she discovers an alternate reality reflected in the glass... A dark reality that is closing in on her.

Check out the official site.

Halloween 2 - More photos from Rob Zombie's sequel. Yes that is 'Weird Al' Yankovic

A few more photos of Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 have arisen on the internet and Teaser Trailer found them. Above is Tyler Mane as Michael Myers. He looks happy.

Below is Malcolm McDowell as Dr Loomis on a talk show with 'Weird Al' Yankovic. No doubt hilarity ensues. Will Weird Al meet an amusing death at the end of Myers knife? I can't make out who the interviewer is.
This sequel will pick up at the exact moment the first movie stopped and follow the aftermath of Michael Myers murderous rampage through the eyes of heroine Laurie Strode - Scout Taylor-Compton as seen below.

Halloween 2 - Here's Michael's new Mask

Finally we get to see what Michael Myers mask will be like in Rob Zombie's forthcoming sequel, H2. Pretty much like the old one which is good news. According to Rob they've finished filming so we should be getting more pics and footage soon.
Well, after 35 days of snow, freezing rain, fire ants, mud and blood we are done! The cast and crew kick ass beyond ass to bring you the most demented Halloween ever! In less than five months Michael will be back in your face! And speaking of face... here is your first glimpse of one of the many faces Michael 2009.
One of the many faces - looks as if we may be getting lots of different masks in this one.

Rob Zombie talks about Halloween 2

“We’re going to do something completely different,” Zombie told MTV News. “We haven’t gotten to that point yet so we could change our minds, but we want to do something totally different. The movie is very raw and very rough looking so the score has to [reflect that].”

“The score’s going to be tricky. We’re going to have to find a really sort of dissident ambient score. Unsettling rather than traditional score which seemed too grand and too musical so we have to find the right [tone].”

Zombie’s directorial vision for “Halloween 2” doesn’t stop with the musical ambience though. He’s also delivering an entirely new – and dare we say, almost realistic – take on story, which delves deep into the mental aftereffects of how the surviving victims in Haddonfield would really react to a psychotic murderer that looks like a walking nightmare.

“Really the movie is all about people who have kind of gone crazy, and they’re all dealing with their with their insanity in different ways,” said Zombie. “Laurie was the withdrawn character, and now she’s sort of the outgoing crazy character. Annie was more outgoing, now she’s very much almost like agoraphobic, afraid to leave the house. Sheriff Brackett is a wreck, looks he’s like one year from retiring so he can just go to the funny farm. Dr. Loomis is in complete denial about everything, and exploiting the situation and making as much money as possible while hating himself.”

That’s all well and good, but what about the film’s misguided antagonist, Michael Myers? How much will his character be revised in “Halloween 2?”

“Michael is crazier than ever,” assured Zombie.

H2 - Michael Myers as we've never seen him before

Yep the bearded fellow above is Tyler Mane as Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's H2 (the sequel to his Halloween reboot). Good to see they are going in a slightly different direction by not having him in the William Shatner mask for the full film. The shot actually reminds me of the Fantastic Four comic when Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) stumbles across a bearded tramp / hobo who turns out to be Namor the Submariner, but that's just me.

The photos come from STYD who have few more photos from the filming as well.

They also have this snippet of news about the young actor Daeg Faerch. He wrote via his MySpace blog that he will not be in the film. "Although I was contracted to reprise the role of young Michael Myers in the upcoming H2 after filming briefly on the set in GA, I am to be recast due to my increased height."

The shot below is of Dr. Loomis' (Malcolm McDowell) book based on the exploits from the first film.

Do you like the beard on Myers? Are you looking forward to H2? Did you enjoy Zombie's Halloween?

Apatow to make Slasher film? Straw Dogs meets Halloween meets Home Alone meets Monster Squad!

Judd Apatow must never sleep or is actually a cartload of chimpanzees sat at an infinite amount of typewriters. He just keeps whacking out films and things everywhich way. CHUD has news of his latest idea involving Bill Hader (Superbad). This one won't be a stoner comedy. Nope instead it will be a slasher movie (well maybe a stoner slasher movie). Hader had this to say about it:

"It's partially Straw Dogs meets Halloween meets Home Alone meets Monster Squad." Sounds cool and I am a fan of at least two of those films. "Judd met with us and said, 'I want to do a horror movie with you. I want to see you in a slasher movie.'"

Hader had this to say about the actual story: "It is definitely about guys nowadays, that idea that you watch fucked up shit on TV… You watch fucked up reality shows, I love true crime shows. The idea of that thing coming to your house, and what do you do? I would shit my pants. That's basically what the movie is about. What if that guy decided to come to your house? What would you and your dipshit friends do about it?"

I like the idea of this, but still very early days for the film (if it gets made at all). Could be both very funny and scary.

What would you and I do if one of those nasty serial killers came calling at your house? Which one of Apatow's acting crew would work well as a serial killer?
