Jackboots on Whitehall - Animated Nazis invade England

This sounds fantastic - England defeated by Nazi Germany during World War II and now occupied and only Scotland can save everyone.

It is an animated film featuring stop-motion, puppets and animatronics and has started filming today.

It stars Timothy Spall as Churchill, Alan Cumming as Hitler, Tom Wilkinson as Goebbels and Richard O'Brien as Himmler, along with Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Ewan McGregor and Richard Griffiths. That is one hell of a cast.

Edward and Rory McHenry are writing and directing the film that will feature stop motion, puppeteering, and animatronics.

I can't wait to see some photos of the puppets.

Uncle Monty's Cottage up for Sale

The BBC have this news story (cheers to Rich for the link):
A remote Cumbrian farmhouse, made famous in the 1986 film Withnail and I, is to be sold at auction. Isolated Sleddale Hall near Shap, will be put up for sale by water giant United Utilities with a starting price of £145,000.

The ramshackle building, known as Uncle Monty's Cottage in the cult movie, still contains many of the original features used during filming. It will come under the hammer with Savills on 16 February. The farmhouse, which has been unoccupied for many years, is almost two miles from the nearest public road and is accessible only via a dirt track.

It was originally acquired by the Manchester Corporation in the 1920s, which eventually became part of North West Water and then United Utilities.

United Utilities senior land agent, Edward Holt, said: "Sleddale Hall is in one of the quietest parts of the Lake District. I hope it is bought by someone who can restore it. It would make a lovely family home."

It has long been an interest for fans of the film Withnail and I, which starred Richard E Grant and Paul McGann. The film tells the story of two out of work actors in the 1960s who venture to the Lakes to escape London only to find themselves hilariously ill-equipped for the bleak conditions they encounter.

Filth and Wisdom - Poster and Trailer for Madonna's Directorial debut...Oh dear!

Madonna’s directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, is a hilariously sexy tale of three roommates who must delve into mischievous and naughty behavior in pursuit of bigger and brighter futures. A Ukrainian immigrant, A.K. (Eugene Hutz), finances his dreams of ‘trans-continental superstardom’ with his band, Gogol Bordello, by turning tricks as a role-playing cross dresser. As A.K. literally whips the privileged of London into shape, he also secretly pines for the object of his affection, Holly (Holly Weston), an aspiring ballerina looking for her big break while moonlighting as a slippery stripper. Meanwhile, Juliette (Vicky Mclure) steals medicine from her pharmaceutical job in hopes of quenching her dreams of helping Africa’s youth. FILTH AND WISDOM is every bit as erotic and playful as it is poignant and touching, revealing the universal struggles we all face in our pursuits of happiness.
