Kate Beckinsale is in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans?

Looks as if previous word that Kate Beckinsale would not be starring in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is not true.

Filmstalker have found out that a "a member" of the crew from the film had spoken to ShockTillYouDrop after the director Patrick Tatopoulos previewed a few scenes to the media. They revealed that the third film will be bookended with scenes with Beckinsale playing Selena from the original Underworld film.

Cool news for Underworld, Vampire, Werewolf and/or bondage fans as you now get Rhona Mitra and Kate Beckinsale in the same film wearing tight rubber.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Poster

Underworld 3 or Rise of the Lycans is a prequel to other two films, and details the history around the centuries-old feud between lycans and vampires. Mitra plays Sonja, Viktor's (Bill Nighy) daughter, who falls in love with Lucien (the eventual leader of the lycans), played by the very talented Michael Sheen. Sonja's decision to be with Lucien combined with an uprising among the vampires' slaves causes an epic battle.

Underworld Rise of the Lycans Trailer

I posted a dodgy copy of this back in August from the Comic Con but here it is in much better quality. Let me know what you think of it. It looks a little better than the first two.

The third film in the $200 million UNDERWORLD franchise delves into the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires, known as Death Dealers, and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). A young Lycan, Lucian (Michael Sheen), emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has persecuted them for hundreds of years. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, the beautiful vampire Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement.

Rhona Mitra gets spanky talking about Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Capone over on AICN interviews Rhona Mitra about the new movie, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. In it we discover that her character is the daughter of Viktor, played by Bill Nighy. Plus lots of sword fights and facial hair.

"It is primarily, which is what's so interesting about it. It's actually
nothing like the other two. I hadn't seen the other two before I got the job,
but I obviously had a look just to see what the differences were. First of all,
it's set in the 12th century. No guns, no PVC [vinyl clothes], a little bit of
poetic license with some of the fabrics though because we're in vampire world.
We can get spanky if we like."

Underworld - Rise of the Lycans

Here are some photos from the Underworld prequel Rise of the Lycans. Kate Beckinsale isn't in it but Rhona Mitra plays the part of Sonja who is a Lycan Death Dealer. Bill Nighy will be returning. It is set in the Dark Ages hence the armour. It will be directed by Patrick Tatopoulos.
