Whiteout - New trailer for Kate Beckinsale's Antarctic adventure

After two years stationed at Antarctica's South Pole research base, lone U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) is as anxious as anyone to be going home. She's turned in her resignation and is counting the hours and minutes to the last plane out. But three days before departure, a body turns up on the ice and Carrie is immediately thrust into Antarctica's first murder investigation. As the death toll mounts, the mystery deepens with shifting loyalties, deadly whiteouts, and a relentless killer who will stop at nothing to protect a secret buried for over sixty years. Now with everyone around her packing up and getting out, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into six months of darkness and she is stranded with the killer on a land where nothing comes in and no one gets out.

Whiteout is due out on 11th September 2009

Underworld may be heading to a TV screen near you

Underworld director Len Wiseman is set to downsize his werewolf versus vampire movie franchise by turning it into a TV drama.

The director has just released Underworld: Rise of The Lycans in America, and he admits he has small-screen plans for the future.

Wiseman, who met and fell for his wife Kate Beckinsale on the first Underworld film, tells BloodyDisgusting.com, "There's a lot of talk about a television series and I'm looking into that. If I could be very involved... I'd be very interested in that.

"We had always hoped to do a trilogy, and now that we've completed that, it's kind of open."

Kate Beckinsale is in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans?

Looks as if previous word that Kate Beckinsale would not be starring in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is not true.

Filmstalker have found out that a "a member" of the crew from the film had spoken to ShockTillYouDrop after the director Patrick Tatopoulos previewed a few scenes to the media. They revealed that the third film will be bookended with scenes with Beckinsale playing Selena from the original Underworld film.

Cool news for Underworld, Vampire, Werewolf and/or bondage fans as you now get Rhona Mitra and Kate Beckinsale in the same film wearing tight rubber.

Whiteout - First look at Kate Beckinsale in the snow

Here's our first view of Kate Beckinsale as Carrie Stetko in the much delayed Whiteout. It is directed by Dominic Sena (Gone in Sixty Seconds, Swordfish). The film is an adaptation of Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber's graphic novel. Not read it but looks like it could be a good little mystery.

Atlantis Rising - As a result will we see a Namor or Aquaman film?

"After more than a thousand years of peaceful coexistence, Atlantis and the surface world are on the brink of war with the fate of both civilizations hanging in the balance."

Mr Kate Beckinsale or Len Wiseman, (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) has jumped on board to direct an adaptation of the comic Atlantis Rising for DreamWorks. First though he has to get through Motorcade. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Eagle Eye) will be producing the project . No writer has been attached yet.

I've not actually read the comic yet but it does sound rather good. Atlantis Rising is a five-part miniseries published by Platinum Studios. It was created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.

The tale begins when seismic disturbances at sea force the military to investigate the deepest part of the ocean, where an underground civilization emerges to engage in war with planet Earth. Seems a bit unreasonable of the sea people. Check out the website for the comic and drunkduck.com have the first four issues posted so you can read them for free.

Big fantastical sea based films of recent years haven't done that well - Waterworld and The Abyss spring to mind (although I do think The Abyss is excellent) - but effects have moved on so this could be good.

Have you read the comic book? Does this intrigue you?

If this is a success could it mean we will eventually see Namor and / or Aquaman on the big screen? Do you say aye shiver me timbers or am I just walking the plank? (Oh that was a stinker of way to wrap up this post!)

Some news on this little Indie movie by Rowan Woods. It is an ensemble drama and is meant to be pretty good. Got a great cast - Dakota Fanning, Guy Pearce, Jackie Earle Haley, Kate Beckinsale and Forest Whitaker. It looks great from the trailer.
