Tim Burton talks about Alice in Wonderland and a certain Mr Depp turns up

Johnny Depp appeared in the final moments of Burton's Alice presentation at Comic-Con on thursday. Burton referred to him as his imaginary friend who follows him everywhere. Depp walked onstage, screaming ensued and all he got to say was "Hey. Happy to be here."

Thanks to Pam for sending me the news.

World's Greatest Dad and Big Fan posters

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. In World’s Greatest Dad, a wickedly funny dark comedy, Lance Clayton (Robin Williams) discovers that what he covets most in life may not be what makes him happy, and being lonely is not necessarily the same as being alone. Lance is a high school poetry teacher who dreams of becoming a rich and famous writer. A single father, he tries desperately to connect with his teenage son, Kyle (Daryl Sabara), an insolent, hormone-raging smartass who defies his dad at every turn. Lance exercises his own hormones with Claire (Alexie Gilmore), a painfully adorable art teacher who may have her eyes on a bigger prize. After a freak accident, Lance suddenly faces both the worst tragedy of his life, and the greatest opportunity. Determined to make lemonade from life’s lemons, Lance treads a path that could land him everything he’s ever dreamed of, as long as he can live with the knowledge of how he got there.

World's Greatest Dad is written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait (Zed from the Police Academy films).
Patton Oswalt plays a 35-year-old parking-garage attendant from Staten Island, and is the self-described "world's biggest New York Giants fan". He lives at home with his mother, spending his off hours calling in to local sports-radio station 760 The Zone, where he rants in support of his beloved team, often against his mysterious on-air rival, Eagles fan Philadelphia Phil. His family berates him for doing nothing with his life, but they don't understand the depth of his love of the Giants or the responsibility his fandom carries.

One night, Paul and his best friend Sal spot Giants star linebacker Quantrell Bishop at a gas station in their neighborhood. They impulsively follow his limo into Manhattan, to a strip club, where they hang in the background, agog at their hero. Paul cautiously decides to approach him, stepping into the rarefied air of football stardom--and things do not go as planned.

The fallout of this chance encounter brings Paul's world crashing down around him as his family, the team, the media and the authorities engage in a tug of war over Paul, testing his allegiances and calling into question everything he believes in. Meanwhile, the Giants march toward a late-season showdown with the Eagles, unaware that sometimes the most brutal struggles take place far from the field of play.

The Informant - Look it's a tubby Matt Damon with a moustache

Teaser Trailer had the photos for Steven Soderbergh's latest film, The Informant, starring Matt Damon.
The Informant is based on the true-life novel by Kurt Eichenwald. The story revolves around Mark Whitacre (Damon), a rising star at the agriculture conglomerate, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). At the urging of his wife (Melanie Lynskey)Whitacre spilled the beans to an agent that he had been involved in a price-fixing scam with other major corporations over the food additive, lysine. As if that wasn't enough of a story, it was later revealed that Whitacre (one of the most high profile, whistle-blowers in history) was suffering from Bipolar disorder and had defrauded millions from ADM.
The film also stars Patton Oswalt, Scott Bakula and Thomas F Wilson. It is due out this November.

Big Fan - 3 clips of Patton Oswalt being a fan..who..is..big..well...biggish

I posted some photos from Big Fan back in December last year.

It's going to be on at the SXSW festival and Collider had these 3 clips.

Big Fan - Photos of Patton Oswalt obsessed fan film

First Showing were sent these photos for a film called Big Fan written and directed by Robert Siegel (The Wrestler). It's going to be on at the Sundance Film Festival and stars Patton Oswalt.

Paul Aufiero (Oswalt), a 35-year-old parking-garage attendant from working-class Staten Island, is the self described "world's biggest New York Giants fan." One night Paul and his best friend, Sal (Kevin Corrigan), spot star Giants linebacker Quantrell Bishop at a gas station in Staten Island. They impulsively follow his SUV into Manhattan to a strip club, where they finally muster up the courage to talk to their hero. What starts out as a dream come true turns into a nightmare as a misunderstanding ignites a violent confrontation, and Paul is sent down a path that will test his devotion to the extreme.

I quite like Patton Oswalt and the films he has starred in. Be sure to check out the short film where he stares at the camera for about 6 minutes and then walks around a storage place until he finds David Byrne playing guitar. Very weird but it does grab you. I posted it a while ago here.
