The Guardian have a few images showing some of the early artwork Dave Gibbons did for the
Watchmen graphic novel. They are from the new book
Watching the Watchmen
. It's interesting to see how Gibbons went about creating the character's various looks - he used a selection of ink blobs made by hand to ensure variety and randomness for Rorschach's mask and Dr Manhatten went through a few costumes before Gibbons left him as nature intended. I've only posted a few images here. The one of the Comedian above has him wearing the mask from the comic, but in the movie he just sports a small domino style mask. Make sure you check out the
rest. You can also get the book
here.

What do you think of them? I've put the book on my Christmas list.

You might enjoy this Mr. Media podcast interview with Dave Gibbons, co-creator and artist of Watchmen, as he discusses the Warner Bros./Fox dispute, being on the set during production, and what he thinks of the trailer and the rough cut he saw of Watchmen. He also talks about the possibility of working with Frank Miller and the message he took to Alan Moore from Will Eisner. Here's the link!
Cheers for the link Bob. I shall get that watched and also check out the other cool things on your site. Take it easy and have a good New Year.
