Gatekeeper - American Shaun of the Dead kind of film starring Hellboy

Circle of Confusion's producing "Gatekeeper," a zombie thriller with Matthew O'Leary, Lea Thompson, Judge Reinhold, Ron Perlman and Jana Kramer attached.

Not a bad little cast there for some retro good times - Lorraine McFly, Billy Rosewood and Hellboy.

Isaac Meisenheimer is signed to make his feature directing debut on "Gatekeeper." Meisenheimer also penned the script, in which a simple mistake leaves three friends to defend their town from a zombie outbreak.

"We intend to make a film in the vein of 'Shaun of the Dead' for American audiences," Emery said.

Who or what is the Gatekeeper though and will Perlman be donning the makeup?

Classic 1960's book covers for Highlander, Temple of Doom, Shaun of the Dead and more. Wait a minute...!

Check out the work of Mitch Ansara in his "I Can Read Movies". He has taken 20 films and imagined what their '60s novelization covers may have looked like. All very Saul Bass. I think they are excellent.

Riki-oh: The Story of Riki Trailer

Edgar Wright is hosting a special Halloween night at the New Beverly Cinema: A double bill of Shaun of the Dead and Wright’s personal Halloween choice film - Riki Oh: The Story of Riki.

Wright explained his reasoning for picking the movie, “What could be more amazing than a film that names it protagonist twice in the title? And what could be more Halloween-y than a ridiculously gory futuristic prison romp with a hero who can play the flute and punch through peoples heads? I swear that if you haven’t seen it before - it’s a crazy film and a great one to see with a crowd. If you need further prompting; please peruse the IMDB plot keywords for RIKI OH.

Plot keywords for :RIKI OH: THE STORY OF RICKY (1991): Hook For Hand, Stabbed In The Eye, Exploding Body, Seppuku, Suicide, Taser, Glass Eye, Decapitation, Wetting Pants, Crow, Crushed To Death, Razor Blade, Vengeance, Severed Leg, Blinding, X Ray, Shower Room, Transformation, Stabbing, Extreme Gore, Crushed Head, Severed Arm, Opium, Intestines, Hand Through Head, Broken Finger, Skinned Alive, Grindhouse, Profanity, Disembowelment, Gore, Martial Arts, Prison, Splatter, Exploding Head, Black Comedy, Controversial, Torture, Animal Abuse, Buried Alive, Christ Allegory, Dismemberment, Hiding On Ceiling, Nail Through Hand, Murder, Mutilation, Megalomaniac, Social Commentary.

If you were not sold by the time it got to ‘Hand Through Head’ on the list, then I do not know what to say.”

I'd not heard of the Riki Oh movie so thought I would share the trailer. Looks kind of crazy good. Anyone seen it?

Simon Pegg: 'I'd Swap Acting For Directing'

British funnyman Simon Pegg would like to swap acting for a more low-key role in showbiz - he wants to become a director.

The Shaun of the Dead actor wrote and starred in a number of British television shows before making the move into Hollywood movies, and is now considering working behind the camera.

And the star confesses the reason he wants to start directing is because he is sick of all the crap he has to deal with as an actor.

He says, "I think I'm ready now because I have a lot of ideas of my own. Part of me just wants to do that (directing) and f**k off out of the limelight.

"I completely understand why a lot of actors retreat into directing. You get to be part of the world of filmmaking, but you don't have to deal with any of the s**t."

Simon Pegg chats with Jonathan Ross about Star Trek, How to Alienate People

Great interview. Pegg discusses Star Trek but is limited by the studios as to what he can say. He can't even do the scottish accent! They then discuss How to Lose Friends and Alienate People before disco dancing. They then go on to discuss the third in the Ice Cream and Armageddon trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) and the forthcoming road movie, Paul, with Nick Frost. The interview is in two parts. Let me know what you think.
