Animated Wonder Woman DVD news

MTV have been talking about the forthcoming Wonder Woman animated feature on DVD which is due out on March 3, 2009. Warner Premiere has released the specs on the forthcoming DVD along with some images from the feature.

“Wonder Woman” will tell the truly epic tale of the character’s origin, from her upbringing on the mystical island of Themyscira, to her inevitable journey into the world of man, where she establishes herself as a hero who plays by her own rules and laws. However, conflict soon arises as Ares escapes his imprisonment from the Amazons and swears revenge on the mortal and mythical worlds, and it’s up to Wonder Woman to stop him at all costs.

Produced by Emmy-award winning animator Bruce Timm and starring the vocal talents of Keri Russell, Alfred Molina, Virginia Madsen, Rosario Dawson and Oliver Platt just to name a few, “Wonder Woman” will be released as a single disc, a two disc special edition and will also be available on Blu-ray DVD. Special features include featurettes such as “Wonder Woman: A Subversive Dream,” which delves into the history of the character and her role in helping define a generation of empowered women, “Wonder Woman The Daughters of Myth,” which documents the relationship between Wonder Woman and her true-life Amazon counterparts, and “Wonder Woman: The Amazon Princess,” a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the animated movie. There’s also a digital version of the film for handheld devices, audio commentaries, and a special look at Bruce Timm’s personal favorite episodes of “Justice League” and “Justice League Unlimited” which featured Wonder Woman.

Here is a photo that shows both versions of Edward Norton. He stars in Leaves of Grass as two different brothers. One is a college professor, the other is his identical twin, a hedonistic, pot smoking career criminal. The professor heads home to Oklahoma and ends up wrapped up in a doomed scheme involving the local drug lord.

Leaves of Grass is both written and directed by fellow actor Tim Blake Nelson. In addition to Norton, Tim Blake Nelson will play a best friend, Susan Sarandon will play the eccentric mother of the two brothers, Keri Russell will play a love interest, and Richard Dreyfuss will play the local drug lord.

Leaves of Grass - Ed Norton as Twins

Leaves of Grass, which will star Ed Norton and is written and directed by Tim Blake Nelson, is being produced by Nu Image / Millennium Films and will start shooting in late September. The film is described as a comedic thriller about twin brothers, both portrayed by Norton, one an Ivy League philosophy professor, the other a small-time and brilliant marijuana grower. The professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown for a doomed scheme against a local drug lord that unravels his life.

In addition to Norton starring as the two leads, Tim Blake Nelson will play a best friend, Susan Sarandon will play the eccentric mother of the two brothers, Keri Russell will play a love interest, and Richard Dreyfuss will play the local drug lord. Nelson wrote the script and gave it to Norton last year, but Norton didn't read it right away. "When Norton finally did read it, he was hooked." Norton said that "there have been only a couple of times in my career that I've gone, 'That's exactly what I want to do.' It felt very complete." The film was just announced this week, but is already prepared to start shooting down in Louisiana in the next few weeks with a moderate budget under $15 million.

Wonder Woman - Poster

Here's a first look at Wonder Woman from the new animated DVD due out in February 2009. Princess Diana will be voiced by Keri Russell (Waitress, Felicity). Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity, White Noise 2, Buffy) will play Air Force pilot Steve Trevor who crashes on the Amazon's island.

It's going to be an origin story and will also star Virginia Madsen as Queen Hippolyta, Rosario Dawson as Diana's rival Artemis and Alfred Molina will play the villian Ares.

The poster looks good but I'm just not sure on the nose. Think I need to see a few more images first. What do you think?
