Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll - Andy Serkis' Ian Dury gets his Blockheads

Back in January I posted part of an interview with Andy Serkis where he mentioned he would be playing punk legend Ian Dury in a biopic due to start filming this month.

Now the film has a title, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, and will be directed by Mat Whitecross reports Variety.

It has also gained an excellent cast. Naomi Harris ("Pirates of the Caribbean"), Ray Winstone ("The Departed"), Olivia Williams ("The Sixth Sense"), Noel Clarke (TV's "Doctor Who"), Toby Jones ("Infamous"), MacKenzie Crook ("Pirates of the Caribbean") and Bill Milner ("Son of Rambow") .

Arthur Darvill, James Jagger, Tom Hughes, Shakraj Soornack, Clifford Samuel and Joe Kennedy are also set to play Dury's band members the Blockheads.

Paul Viragh penned the script, Damian Jones is producing and shooting kicks off May 3rd in London.

No word yet on whether Andy Serkis will be portraying Ian Dury through the wonders of motion capture :)

Is Anybody There? - International Trailer for Michael Caine's latest film

Edward (Bill Milner, Son of Rambow) isnt your average 10 year old. Obsessed with ghosts and the afterlife, his parents (Anne-Marie Duff, Shameless - and David Morrisey, Red Riding) are concerned that life might be passing him by. But when Clarence (Academy Award-winner Michael Caine, The Dark Knight), a retired magician, comes to stay with the family, Edwards world is disrupted and he is forced to interact with the the grumpy old man whos taken over his bedroom. As the weeks progress, their antagonism turns to friendship and Clarence convinces Edward to engage with the world of the living and the young boy helps Clarence confront the ghosts of his past.

From the producer of Little Miss Sunshine and the Harry Potter movies and the director of Channel 4s acclaimed Boy A, Is Anybody There? is the surprising and touching story about two unexpected friends who inspire each other to live life to the fullest.

Is Anybody There? - Trailer for new Michael Caine film

Set in 1980s seaside England, 'Is Anybody There?' tells the story of ten-year-old Edward (Bill Milner) whose parents have turned their house into a retirement home. While his mother struggles to keep the family business afloat and his father copes with the onset of a mid-life crisis, Edward becomes increasingly obsessed with the ghosts and afterlives of the residents when they die. Edward's is a lonely existence until he meets Clarence (Michael Caine), the latest arrival at the home, a retired magician and grieving widower who refuses to give in gracefully to old age. Their relationship begins at odds until Clarence notices that the boy is growing up even more fitfully than he is growing old. As they begin to face life together, Clarence comes to terms with his past, Edward tames his obsession with the unknown and they are both reminded of what magic is possible when life is lived to its fullest.

Due out in April, 2009.
