The Hunt for Gollum - Trailer for Fan made short film

Quiet Earth have news on The Lord of The Rings prequel fan film, The Hunt For Gollum. It cost just £3,000 to put together, compared with the £190 million spent on making the three The Lord Of The Rings films. Some major work has gone into the costumes, makeup and the like. Very impressive.

The script is adapted from elements of the appendices of The Lord of the Rings. The story follows the Heir of Isildur; the "greatest huntsman and traveller in Middle Earth" as he sets out to find the creature Gollum. The creature must be found to discover the truth about the Ring, and to protect the future Ringbearer.

This is currently in production in England and will be available free on the internet next year, but here are a couple of trailers to keep us going.

Looks pretty cool doesn't it. The talent of some people. I for one will be watching the full film when it is released.

  1. Yep, HFG looks pretty great. If you dig this, there's another UK-based LOTR fan film in the works, Born of Hope, which looks to have potential. If you want to find out more about the world of fan films, you might want to check out my daily fan film blog, fancinematoday.com. Also, for what it's worth, I wrote the first book about the history and future of fan films, Homemade Hollywood, which is coming out in December in bookstores everywhere.

  2. Hey Clive. Great to hear from you. I saw mention of your book a while ago (can't find where though, I was sure I mentioned it on the blog). Will have a good look at your blog this weekend (off to bed now as it's late here in the UK). Any chance of a signed copy of your book? :)
