Let me be positive to begin with... Great cast: iconic actors with some great films behind them; excellent director of set-pieces; homage to the 70s original in the form of John 'one of the biggest box-office draw of 70s' Travolta. Alas...
ReplyDeleteWhy remake a classic from the 70s(best homage to this film was so obviously QT's 1992 debut)? Why are the aforementioned actors so bloated-of-face? Can you ask one question without the other? Hell, no... Lazy studios, rehash sure-fire box-office draw, with actors who will take any part to fill their ever expanding waistlines and store food in their hamster-like cheeks in readiness for the world recession.
Can't imagine this remake retaining the same level of humour as the 1974 classic. Denzel will pull out all the stops, but in the Walter Matthau role? Travolta, love the guy, reprising the Robert Shaw role: F***! I can watch anything and derive some enjoyment, but don't patronise me with your, "I'm givin' y'al what you want, bubba. I just knows you wanna a bit of nostalgia 'n'al."
As Robert Shaw (Mr Blue) said, "I once had a man shot for talking to me like that."
